Highly-anticipated Buffy reboot confirms new lead Slayer and Sarah Michelle Gellar responds
Fans of Buffy, rejoice! A new main Slayer has emerged in Sunnydale, and she has the official endorsement of original actress Sarah Michelle Gellar.
In an exciting development, the eagerly awaited revival of Buffy will have Sarah Michelle Gellar returning as Buffy Summers. However, unlike before, there will be more than one Slayer in this new version.
14-year-old Ryan Kiera Armstrong, who starred in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, is now part of the Buffyverse for Hulu’s pilot order. The pilot will be helmed by Academy Award-winning director and Buffy fan Chloé Zhao. Co-creators of Poker Face, Nora and Lilla Zuckerman, are in charge of writing the script for this episode.

Armstrong’s specific role isn’t well understood yet, but the script portrays him as a reserved high school student.
In the new version, Gellar, serving as an executive producer for the revival, posted a video where she informs a clearly moved Armstrong about the news.
“You want to be my chosen one?” Gellar asks Armstrong in the sweet clip.
As soon as I watched Ryan’s tryout, I felt certain that there was just one girl I desired to be with me,” is how it was put in the caption, Gellar wrote.
At such a tender age, possessing that level of emotional intelligence and skill is nothing short of a blessing. An added advantage is that her smile can brighten the gloomiest of spaces.
In this upcoming chapter of the cherished tale, it’s clear that the two heroes will join forces with a common goal: to protect our world.
Lilla and Nora Zuckerman shared similar sentiments to Gellar about the choice of Armstrong for the role, as expressed in their personal statement regarding the casting.
They were incredibly thrilled to discover that Ryan Kiera Armstrong, without a doubt, fits the role of this era’s extraordinary talent. She left an indelible impression on us – we have no doubt that she is the right choice for the part.
As an enthusiastic admirer, I can’t help but express my thrill over the fact that, much like she’s done on her Instagram profile, Armstrong has now proudly labeled herself as a “slayer.” In a heartfelt message, she openly shared her anticipation for taking on this exciting role.
She expressed her heartfelt gratitude and enthusiasm by writing, “I can’t contain my excitement to announce that I will be joining the Buffy the Vampire Slayer universe! This adventure with you @sarahmgellar makes me ecstatic. Your talent truly leaves me in awe.
Later, she acknowledged her gratitude towards her agents and director Chloe Zhao for having faith in her, along with expressing her happiness while collaborating with Nora and Lilla Zuckman.
She expressed that she was still reeling from the overwhelming shock and unbelief. Moreover, she gratefully acknowledged her incredible parents who made it possible for her to pursue her dreams, saying, “I won’t disappoint you!
Buffy the Vampire Slayer can be streamed in full on Disney+ and ITVX.
