The Prime Video series Jack Ryan, which starred John Krasinski, ended with its fourth season three years ago. Now, after a long wait, the new movie continuation, Ghost War (also known as Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War), is now available.
So, just like the series, you can only watch this new Jack Ryan movie on Prime Video. Basically, they’re throwing Jack back into the spy game – he didn’t really want to, but some secret mission goes wrong and uncovers a really dangerous plot. It looks like he’s got no choice but to jump in and fix things!
Things got crazy fast – I ended up teaming up with some CIA guys, Mike November and James Greer, plus this really smart MI6 agent, Emma Marlowe. We were up against a renegade black-ops team, and honestly, it wasn’t just a mission, it felt totally personal. It was a race against the clock, and the stakes couldn’t have been higher.

John Krasinski, Wendell Pierce, Betty Gabriel, and Michael Kelly reprise their roles as Jack Ryan, James Greer, Elizabeth Wright, and Mike November in the series.
The show is adding some new faces, including Max Beesley, known from Jamestown and Hotel Babylon, JJ Feild from Lost in Space, and Sienna Miller, who starred in Anatomy of a Scandal.

Okay, so I was really excited for the movie after loving the TV show. The show consistently got great reviews – around 80% positive on Rotten Tomatoes over its four seasons. But honestly, the movie? It’s been getting hammered by critics. As of right now, it’s only at 32% on Rotten Tomatoes after 11 reviews. Pretty disappointing!
According to a review in The AU Review, the film introduces a refreshing element with Miller’s performance, but doesn’t quite deliver the spectacular scale it seems to aim for. The reviewer ultimately feels Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War works because it understands its strengths and avoids unnecessary additions.
This extension of the series is clever and captivating, staying true to what fans love while also welcoming newcomers. Longtime followers will be pleased with the result.

I just read a review of Jack Ryan: Ghost War, and it sounds…okay. ScreenRant said it’s well-made and gets straight to the point with the action, but it doesn’t really break any new ground. If you’re already a fan of the Jack Ryan series on TV, you’ll probably enjoy it. And if you like military thrillers and spy stuff, there’s a good chance you’ll like it too. But honestly, it sounds like it could have been something truly special instead of just…good.
Some reviews were critical, with Collider saying the film didn’t take enough risks. FandomWire felt it simplified what made the original show good, and The Times was particularly harsh, describing it as a bland, uninspired product made for viewers who aren’t paying close attention and might vaguely recognize elements from better films.
Jack Ryan: Ghost War is available to stream now on Prime Video.
