In this critique, I delved into High Seas Hero on the Motorola G32 (Android device), investing a grand total of 15 hours in gameplay. This extended playtime enabled me to traverse and savor all aspects of the game, offering me a robust basis for a comprehensive evaluation.

The gameplay is pretty straightforward, with few enjoyable elements

Let’s delve into the gameplay adventure of High Seas Hero. Initially, it might not be particularly fun or may seem lacking, but this is likely due to its nature as an idle RPG. Once you look beyond the initial stages, it offers a multitude of features such as weapons, heroes, expeditions, arenas, cabins, and guilds that help it stand out. If you persevere through the early levels, the experience becomes increasingly enjoyable.

In this game, the strategy is simple yet engaging: consistently upgrade your battleship using essential elements such as weapons, hull (which includes prow, stern, sides), sonar, fire control system, engine, armor, repair facilities, and fuel. These components are vital for combating both airborne and naval adversaries. The action grows more thrilling as you advance, elevate your vessel, and unveil fresh features.

The mechanics that aren’t actively used are effectively designed in certain aspects. Instead of having to repeatedly tap the Forge button manually, you can opt for an automatic mode where you can adjust the quality of items and apply filters such as crit rate, combo rate, among others. One enjoyable aspect is the capability to personalize your battleships.

As you gradually unveil additional game content and functions, the experience becomes captivating and enjoyable once you reach the Cabin area. Here, you can enhance and upgrade diverse spaces like the Energy Hub, Fishing Hut, Kitchen, among others, deploying crew members to optimize your vessel’s performance and ensure the team’s safety in the harsh climate.

The game offers a wealth of playable material, featuring challenges such as combats against pirate vessels in the Hideout of the Pirates or encounters with an Octopus-like creature within the Submarine Grotto, among others. Instead, I’m referring to how exquisitely designed the game’s visuals are, with intricate details on the models of battleships, aircraft, monsters, and even the crewmates. They’re all thoughtfully designed, even if they don’t boast ultra-realistic or state-of-the-art graphics. This level of detail is more than adequate for an idle game.

Indeed, it’s the game’s exceptional audio design that truly shines. The operatic soundtracks and dramatic sound effects create a captivating, battlefield-like ambiance. I must say, the gunfire sounds and other auditory cues are expertly done. Bravo to the audio team for their outstanding work! It’s also noteworthy that both the sound and visual elements align perfectly with the game’s theme, demonstrating the thoughtful craftsmanship behind this immersive experience.

The Controls and UI are simple yet well-crafted and eye-catchy

In terms of its game controls and user interface (UI), High Seas Hero maintains a straightforward, intuitive design that’s simple to understand and navigate. The UI is thoughtfully crafted to blend seamlessly with the game’s visual appeal. Although it can appear somewhat crowded at times, the UI never disrupts your overall gaming experience.

Moving around the different sections, settings, profile, and other elements within this game is quite intuitive. The icons and text fonts are harmoniously designed in line with the game’s aesthetic, ensuring effortless navigation without wasting your time. Regarding the controls, since it’s an idle RPG, you mainly tap to perform most actions, which keeps things simple and uncomplicated.

IAPs are tempting, but you can still enjoy as a free-to-play player

High Seas Hero provides a selection of in-app goods, notably the Weapons and Heroes Lottery, which could entice you to buy these items to access them more quickly, thereby advancing at a faster pace. The game offers additional advantages for purchase, such as Universal Speedups, High-Speed Engines, and Coins.
