High-profile British actor engaged to top popstar is ‘tipped to become next James Bond’ as bosses reportedly narrow down shortlist to three names

It’s rumored that Dua Lipa’s well-known partner might be the top contender for playing the next character portraying James Bond.

35-year-old British actor Callum Turner, who hails from a modest upbringing on an estate in Hammersmith, London, might just be on the verge of a major career milestone – potentially stepping into the role of the upcoming James Bond.

Based on recent predictions by Heart Bingo, it appears that Callum may be favoured by the public.

And the star seems to be receiving huge praise for being the next in line.

Sarah Caskie, the Brand Chief at an online platform, stated: “Since the chatter about who will take over the James Bond franchise continues after Amazon announced they’ll be in charge, we decided to seek the general consensus on who would suit the 07 role best.

It appears that the majority of people have expressed their opinions about who should take over from Daniel Craig in the next film, and after gathering all the information, it turns out that Callum Turner is the top pick, with a whopping 63% of posts discussing his potential role being favorable, whereas not a single post was against him.

After reports, it seems that the potential candidates for James Bond’s next boss have been reduced to only three following intense discussion.

According to Variety, it’s being suggested that actors like Saltburn star Jacob Elordi, Spider-Man’s Tom Holland, and Babygirl actor Harris Dickinson are high on Amazon’s list of desired talents.

It’s said that insiders have hinted to the media that the production team is considering choosing a young British actor for one of their roles.

Despite being an Australian himself at age 28, Jacob remains a strong contender for the role. Interestingly, another Australian actor named George Lazenby had portrayed James Bond in the movie “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” way back in 1969.

We’ve reached out to the representatives of stars like Amazing (character/person), Jacob Elordi, Tom Holland, and Harris Dickinson to ask for their thoughts or confirmation.

Amazon declined to comment when contacted by Variety. 

According to a press release from Amazon, it was revealed that Denis Villeneuve, famed for helming Warner Bros.’ two-part Dune adaptation, has agreed to take up directorial duties for an upcoming, as yet unnamed movie.

In this project, a 57-year-old filmmaker of French-Canadian origin will collaborate with Tanya Lapointe in their roles as executive producers.

Earlier, it was revealed that Amy Pascal and David Heyman would be producing the movie, following the separation between Universal Studios and the long-standing James Bond producers, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson.

Approximately three years have passed since Amazon finalized its large-scale $8.5 billion purchase of MGM Studios, which encompassed the James Bond film series among other assets.

Since the release of No Time to Die in 2021, which marked Daniel Craig’s last appearance as the iconic secret agent, no new Bond film has been produced.

In a statement, the director shared that his earliest cinema experiences were linked to the character 007. He recalls watching James Bond movies as a child alongside his father, starting from Dr. No featuring Sean Connery.

He expressed, “I’m an unwavering James Bond enthusiast. For me, he’s hallowed ground. I aim to uphold the legacy and pave the way for numerous future adventures.

The filmmaker openly acknowledged that this task is both a tremendous responsibility and an extremely thrilling opportunity for them, offering immense pride.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but express my gratitude to Amy and David, the brilliant minds behind 007. They’ve truly outdone themselves in bringing our beloved hero back to the big screen. A heartfelt thank you also goes to Amazon MGM Studios for their unwavering trust and confidence in this project.

Denis Villeneuve has had a longstanding affection for the James Bond films, having developed it since his childhood days.

As a devoted follower, I’ve long cherished the vision of bringing this movie to life, and now, that dream is shared among us. We are truly fortunate to work under the guidance of such an exceptional filmmaker.

Following Amazon’s purchase of MGM in 2022, they secured exclusive creative rights over the 007 series, thanks to an agreement made with Barbara and Michael, the children of Albert R. Broccoli, the franchise’s original producer.

Since 1995, Barbara and Michael have managed the franchise as they took over the running of their father’s Eon Productions company, which he handed over to them.

In March 2025, Amazon sealed a deal with Barbara and Michael, but the financial details remained undisclosed. However, there were whispers that the sum could exceed $1 billion.

According to a source within the know, this news is likely to annoy fans of James Bond who are worried that Amazon’s potential control over the 07 franchise might result in significant alterations being made.

‘But Liverpool is a well-known alternative to London for film-makers.

It can be found in a variety of films such as The Batman, Captain America, and Harry Potter, often serving dual roles as global urban settings.

The source mentioned that it’s not guaranteed the story takes place in Liverpool, although observant locals from Liverpool might identify their downtown area in the backdrop.

Earlier this year, it became known that Amazon Prime now has creative control over the James Bond series, causing concern among fans who worry that the classic movies might be diluted with numerous spin-offs like Star Wars.

The agreement follows Amazon’s purchase of MGM Studios in 2022, which was an expansion of their media efforts. With this acquisition, Amazon secured distribution privileges for the 007 series, yet they do not have creative oversight.

The company is accelerating the release of the upcoming film, having allegedly invested approximately $1 billion to reclaim control from Barbara Broccoli.

It’s said that there won’t be any revelation about why the special agent is miraculously alive, no exploration of multiple Bond universes, and no time travel to recreate the ’60s style of James Bond.

As a diehard fan, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the announcement of the next James Bond, with Aaron Taylor-Johnson being my top pick. However, it seems Barbara Broccoli had other ideas initially. Yet, the decision doesn’t lie solely with her now. Producers Heyman and Pascal are eager to carve their own path, and I can’t wait to see who they choose as the new 007.
