High Potential quickly makes it clear there's something suspicious about Ramon

As a fan who’s been binging crime dramas for decades, let me tell you, High Potential is quickly becoming one of my favorites! The twist in this week’s episode had me hooked from start to finish. I mean, diapers in a car? That’s not your typical runaway dad story, is it?

In a short span of time, High Potential has immersed itself in unraveling the enigma surrounding Ramon. Following Morgan’s request for assistance from Selena regarding the events that occurred fifteen years ago, Selena promptly provided an explanation.

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for High Potential Season 1, Episode 2

Throughout much of the episode, the main emphasis was on the case at hand; however, there were some tranquil instances between Morgan and Ava. What Morgan yearns for is to assist Ava in discovering a positive aspect in her life. Upon learning about her art, Morgan swiftly deduces that her artistic skills are inherited from her father.

Initially, Ava seems uninterested in that subject, but by the conclusion of the episode, it appears her perspective might shift. There’s a hint of mystery surrounding Ramon’s absence.

Selena finds Ramon’s car in High Potential

Towards the close of the episode, Selena approaches Morgan’s door carrying some updates. Days following Ramon’s disappearance, his car was located at a tow yard. However, it wasn’t the location that mattered, but rather the objects discovered within it.

15 years ago, Ramon had gone out and came back with some diapers. It’s puzzling why these diapers would be there if he was planning to flee. Wouldn’t he simply leave without them? It seems odd that he would return just to drop off the diapers and then disappear again. This scenario doesn’t add up logically.

Morgan feels a sense of vindication, knowing at last that someone trusts her. Selena understands now that this man wasn’t just an absent father; something must have befallen him. It’s high time for further investigation. If only the police had considered this possibility back then.

In the episode, Ava discreetly listened to everything without Morgan and Selena realizing. She was seated on the couch, and the scene ended with a close-up of tears streaming down her face. Given that she has now discovered her father didn’t merely leave town, could this be a pivotal moment for her? Might it prompt her to take bold steps as she becomes involved in the search for her dad? The storyline promises many more exciting developments ahead.

Indeed, the current question appears to be about Ramon’s situation. If he wasn’t absent without leave, then it seems plausible that something significant involving him occurred which eventually led to his predicament – a scenario that fits well with the storyline for High Potential.

High Potential airs Tuesdays at 10/9c on ABC. Catch up the following day on Hulu.
