Summary

  • Kojima Productions announced a new horror game OD
  • Created with Jordan Peele, the cast includes Sophia Lillis, Udo Kier and Hunter Schafer
  • Developed with Xbox Game Studios, the game is built on Unreal Engine 5 using MetaHuman tools

Hideo Kojima recently shared a three-minute trailer for his upcoming game, OD, during a live stream celebrating Kojima Productions’ 10th anniversary. The trailer offers a quick, movie-like glimpse into the studio’s next project, which is described as a horror game. Kojima first announced OD in 2023, explaining that he envisions it as something new – a blend of both gaming and film.

The trailer shows Sophia Lillis’ character entering a room and lighting a row of unusual candles. As she does, increasingly unsettling knocking sounds begin. The trailer ends with a frightening close-up of something grabbing her, then reveals the title of the game, KNOCK. This title is a nod to Hideo Kojima’s personal fear of loud knocking. The game’s first-person view and creepy atmosphere have drawn comparisons to Kojima’s cancelled demo, P.T., which is often referenced when discussing his unique style of interactive horror.

Created with Xbox Game Studios and director Jordan Peele, the game utilizes Unreal Engine 5 and MetaHuman technology from 3Lateral and Epic Games to deliver incredibly realistic graphics. The cast features Sophia Lillis, along with Udo Kier and Hunter Schafer. A release date hasn’t been revealed yet.
