Hi-Fi Rush 2 Has Been in the Works For Six Months, To Be a 'More Open World Type of Experience'

As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, I can’t help but feel a surge of anticipation when it comes to Hi-Fi Rush 2! Having played and loved the original, the prospect of a sequel from Tango Gameworks under the wing of Krafton is simply music to my ears.

After purchasing Tango Gameworks (the developer behind Hi-Fi Rush, The Evil Within, and GhostWire: Tokyo) in August, Krafton has shared some details about the potential development of Hi-Fi Rush 2, which was reportedly in progress for approximately six months before the takeover by PUBG’s parent company.

Maria Park, Krafton’s Head of Corporate Development, stated to GI.biz that when we visited them, the construction we examined was approximately six months old. However, since the IP acquisition is currently underway, it has been placed on hold as all relevant assets and tools are being transferred from Microsoft to Krafton at this time.

Park emphasized that they aim to exceed the community’s expectations with the sequel by maintaining a superior quality. Moreover, they are excited about developing DLC for Hi-Fi Rush and are committed to preserving high standards for Hi-Fi Rush 2, offering a fresh and unique experience.

Park explained that Tango aims to deliver Hi-Fi Rush 2 with an experience beyond fan expectations. This goal includes reducing the frequency of factory settings and offering a more expansive, open-world-like environment. She added that while it may not be entirely open world, there will be a more interactive and dynamic gameplay area. Additionally, she mentioned enhancing the rhythm action technology to make it feel more harmonious and synchronized.

Regarding the upcoming titles like GhostWire and The Evil Within sequels, what’s their current status? As per Krafton, they only acquired the intellectual property for Hi-Fi Rush in the Tango Gameworks deal. Consequently, GhostWire and The Evil Within will continue to be under Microsoft and Bethesda’s jurisdiction.
