Here’s your first look at Reacher star Alan Ritchson’s near-silent revenge thriller

Alan Ritchson’s upcoming thriller Motor City has just released a first-look image.

Potsy Ponciroli’s movie will make its global debut at the Venice Film Festival towards the end of August, followed by its North American premiere at TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) in September.

The film, penned by Chad St. John, is situated in 1970s Detroit and features Ritchson portraying John Miller, an ordinary man wrongfully accused by a merciless local mob boss. Upon his release from prison, John Miller vows to exact retribution using whatever methods are available to him.

In the initial scene, Ritchson portrays John, a character adorned with tattoos on his muscular arms and wearing a white prison shirt. His intense glare suggests that anyone who has wronged him is in for some trouble.

Motor City also stars Shailene Woodley, Ben Foster and Pablo Schreiber.

In 2023, it was announced that the film would have an exceptional storytelling approach, which was verified by Foster. Later, speaking about the movie post-shooting, Foster revealed that the film, titled Motor City, leans heavily towards being a nearly wordless production.

In his conversation with Collider last September, he mentioned that the movie, titled “Motor City” which we recently completed, is almost like a silent film.

He pointed out that the script contains five different spoken parts, emphasizing that the music, put together by Detroit-born artist Jack White, plays a key role.

In the movie, Jack White contributes musically, giving it a feel similar to a rock-disco-revenge flick. It’s also reminiscent of a graphic novel, making its outcome intriguing, as per Foster’s comments.

The city known as “Motor City” is set to make its global debut at the Venice Film Festival on the 30th of August. Following this, it will also be screened at the Toronto International Film Festival.
