Here’s your first look at Matt Damon in Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated epic The Odyssey

As a devoted admirer, I can hardly contain my excitement as I share with you the first glimpse of Matt Damon taking center stage in Christopher Nolan’s epic retelling of The Odyssey.

After the hit movie “Oppenheimer“, director Christopher Nolan and actor Matt Damon are teaming up once again for Nolan’s highly anticipated new project, which boasts a star-studded cast.

Drawing inspiration from Homer’s ancient 8th-century poem by the same name, the movie presents Damon as Odysseus, the monarch of Ithaca, on a voyage to rejoin his spouse Penelope following the ten-year Trojan War. This rendition aims to maintain the original essence while making it more accessible and engaging for contemporary audiences.

In the initial glimpse of Damon dressed as the ancient Greek hero, you’ll notice him sporting a helmet embellished with stiff hairs. Additionally, he dons a chest armor vest, a forearm guard, and a flowing cape while casually glancing over his shoulder.

Slated for a release in July 2026, this eagerly awaited film boasts an impressive cast including Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, and Robert Pattinson, among others.

Currently, it’s undecided which roles are assigned to whom in the stellar ensemble, with Damon’s character being the only one confirmed as Odysseus. It’s possible that Holland might take on the role of Telemachus, Odysseus’ son, and Hathaway could embody Penelope, but these are just hypotheses at this point.

Similar to how Oppenheimer was announced, The Odyssey is set to be filmed in IMAX format, following the unveiling of Nolan’s latest project, which had been kept under wraps for several months.

Universal Pictures announced in December that Christopher Nolan’s upcoming movie, titled “The Odyssey“, will be an epic action film rooted in mythology, filmed globally utilizing state-of-the-art IMAX camera technology for the first time.

For the very first time, the epic tale of Homer is being shown on IMAX movie screens, starting its worldwide release on July 17, 2026.

The Odyssey is scheduled to be released in cinemas on July 17, 2026.
