The final episode of Downton Abbey might soon be in movie theaters, so there’s still a chance for you to get up-to-speed with all the excitement beforehand!

Following a six-year run on TV and three movies, the beloved historical series will conclude after fifteen years, wrapping up its story with The Final Chapter, where it revisits the Crawley family one last time.

If you’d like to prepare for the finale of the series or just re-familiarize yourself with it, great news! Currently, you can stream the first two movies from the trilogy in the UK.

The grand conclusion is set to debut in cinemas this coming Friday, 12th September. Just before its release, Digital Spy had a chance to chat with the cast, and some of the actors hinted that the finale would be quite emotionally stirring.

Robert James-Collier, who portrays Thomas Barrow, mentioned that this final season delivers what the audience desires, and he believes Julian Fellowes, the writer, has achieved this by tying up all the lingering plot threads since it’s the last one.

At Downton Abbey, everyone seems content. This is what viewers desire as it offers a form of escape amidst the current chaotic world events. In these troubled times, it’s comforting to watch something pleasant and uncomplicated, resulting in a positive conclusion for all characters.

According to Laura Carmichael, who plays Edith Pelham, “It’s truly emotional.” She noted that they were all keenly aware that the film represented farewell. There was definitely a sense of pressure for this production to be just right in order to bid farewell appropriately.

As a devoted admirer, I must express my awe at Julian crafting an extraordinary screenplay. It was imperative that it surpassed expectations of the series’ loyal followers, while also proving entertaining to those newcomers unfamiliar with Downton Abbey. Truly, it offered an immersive escape, a thrilling journey for the whole family, ultimately leaving us all in high spirits.
