Here’s when and where you can finally stream Smile 2
As a horror enthusiast with a penchant for spine-tingling suspense and nail-biting thrills, I can hardly contain my excitement for the arrival of Smile 2 on Paramount+ this December 3rd. Having missed the opportunity to witness the chilling spectacle unfold on the big screen, I’m more than eager to immerse myself in the supernatural terrors that await me at home.
Following a highly acclaimed theater release, one of the top horror films this year will be available for streaming starting December 3rd, 2024, exclusively on Paramount+ – keep an eye out for the sequel titled “Smile 2“.
The chilling supernatural movie first graced screens in October and was generally well-received by critics. Audiences also seemed to appreciate the film, commending its strong acting performances among other aspects. As a result, it became a commercial success, earning $137.6 million worldwide on a production budget of just $28 million. Speculation is rife about a possible Smile 3, but for now, the creative team has only discussed the possibility and not confirmed it. Rest assured, we’ll keep you updated if there are any developments regarding a sequel.
In a different wording: Parker Finn, responsible for the 2022 release ‘Smile’, has taken on the duties of writing, producing, and directing its sequel, titled ‘Smile 2’. This follow-up was given the go-ahead in April 2023, with Paramount Pictures returning as distributor. Later in the same year, Naomi Scott signed up to play Skye Riley, a well-known pop star, who experiences her life unraveling when she’s targeted by a malevolent curse while preparing for her return tour.
Individuals afflicted by this curse undergo progressively terrifying and aggressive hallucinations, eventually leading them to either take their own life or meet a violent end in front of an observer. This observer then falls victim to the curse, keeping it perpetuated. Skye is determined to avoid this destiny, so she sets out to find a means to lift the curse, if such a thing can be done…
In the sequel, Kyle Gallner once again takes on the character he played as Joel from the initial film. Additionally, Rosemarie DeWitt, Lukas Gage, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Peter Jacobson, Ray Nicholson, Dylan Gelula, and Raúl Castillo are among the actors featured in the movie’s ensemble cast.
According to Katie Walsh from the Tribune News Service, during her review of the film, she noted that Finn has enhanced the jump-scares in his work compared to before, ensuring a continuous stream of popcorn flying. The sound design is robust and unsettling, the hallucinations are more intricate, and the body horror is bloodier and more unnerving. Linda Marric from The Sun (UK) also praised the sequel, commenting that director Parker Finn doesn’t hold back in this terrifying sequel, offering an even more intense and distressing experience.
If you regrettably missed catching “Smile 2” in cinemas, mark your calendars! The movie will be available for streaming on Paramount+ from December 3rd onwards. For those who can’t wait that long, renting or purchasing the film digitally on platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Google Play, Fandango at Home, and others is an option you have today.
