The Summer I Turned Pretty finale spoilers follow.
After three seasons, *The Summer I Turned Pretty* has finished airing, but some fans believe a popular theory suggests the story might continue.
The popular Prime Video series, adapted from Jenny Han’s bestselling books, has quickly become a cultural obsession, largely thanks to its central and often-debated romantic storyline.
What to Read Next
The show centers on Isabel ‘Belly’ Conklin, a teenager who finds herself caught in a love triangle between two brothers, Jeremiah and Conrad.
The final episode of *The Summer I Turned Pretty* Season 3 is now available, and it reveals who Belly chooses… be warned, spoilers ahead!
Conrad unexpectedly shows up in Paris to surprise Belly. Throughout the episode, they become more connected and share a close moment, but Belly begins to wonder why he came. Although Conrad tells her he loves her, Belly isn’t sure how she feels in return.
Still upset, he went to the train station intending to leave for Brussels the next day. However, just when he needed it most, Belly arrived, wearing the infinity necklace Conrad had given her.
Honestly, that line – “I choose you of my own free will. There are infinite worlds. Every one of me chooses you in every one of them” – totally wrecked me! It was such a beautiful way to end the series, seeing them walk towards the beach house, hands linked. It just felt like, no matter what, they were meant to be, across every possible reality. I was a mess, in the best way!
What is the “14” theory?
A recent fan theory doing the rounds suggests that more episodes could be on the way.
Fans have spotted the number 14 appearing repeatedly throughout the show – like on Belly’s hoodie and as the date of Susannah’s death – leading them to believe the current eleven-episode season might eventually be extended with three more chapters.
A fan on Facebook noticed the number 14 appearing frequently and believes this might mean the show will have 14 episodes. They also pointed out that the show’s Instagram account removed the episode schedule, leading them to wonder if others share this theory.
One fan pointed out that if the show continues for a total of 14 episodes, the finale would air on October 8th – referencing the infinity symbol. Another noted that this timing aligns with a key moment in the second book, where the infinity necklace is discovered in chapter 14.
People are continuing to share their ideas and theories on platforms like X and TikTok, and some have even connected the clues to Taylor Swift, who is famous for hiding secrets in her own work and whose songs feature prominently in the show.
Will there be a The Summer I Turned Pretty season 4?
Now that the show has covered all three books in Han’s series, and with season 3 being promoted as the last one and no new seasons planned, it doesn’t seem likely there will be a fourth season.
Look, I’m still holding out hope for more content! I read an interview with Han, and she basically said ‘never say never,’ so there’s still a chance. As a gamer, that’s all I need to hear – a little hope goes a long way!
She explained, “If a story truly grabs me, I’m in.” As a writer, she finds inspiration constantly. She’d be thrilled to pursue a project if she had a fantastic idea she was passionate about, and if the actors involved felt the same way.
“It really depends on if I feel like there is more story to tell.”
Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, recently discussed the potential for a fourth season with *Variety*. He explained that any future plans depend on Jenny Han, the show’s creator, who has always had a vision for how the story should conclude. Their primary focus has been on finishing the current season well and providing a satisfying ending.
We expect to be able to discuss things further with Jenny once everything is officially launched. She’s eager to explore some new ideas, and we’re fully supportive of whatever she wants to work on.
