Step aside, tortured poets. It’s a showgirl era now.
On Tuesday mornings, Taylor Swift unveiled her upcoming album titled “The Life of a Showgirl,” and here’s what we currently understand about it. (For now, the information is somewhat limited.)
The word came at exactly 12:12 a.m., which seemed fitting, as it was the release time for her 12th album. Taylor Swift revealed this news on “New Heights,” a well-known podcast that she co-hosts with her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, who plays tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Following the announcement, a series of billboards in New York City and Nashville pointed fans towards a Spotify playlist labeled “And, baby, that’s show business for you.” This playlist contains some of Taylor Swift’s past hits, which were produced by Max Martin and Shellback. This hints that these pop music powerhouses played significant roles in the production of her new album.
The exact release date hasn’t been announced yet, but you can already pre-order the item on Swift’s website. The cover art appears to be a mysterious green backdrop with a shiny orange lock, if it isn’t some sort of deception.
4. Swift has been consistently putting out new music in recent years. In 2024, she dropped “The Tortured Poets Department,” and then came out with a sprawling “Anthology” edition featuring bonus tracks that turned “Poets” into the biggest-selling album of the year.
5. Besides this, Swift bought back the rights to all her earlier albums that were initially released by Big Machine Records from Shamrock Capital for a reported large amount of money. Swift then re-recorded these albums under the title “Taylor’s Version,” which became a popular response to Scooter Braun acquiring her catalog, her former adversary.
Although Taylor Swift’s “Taylor’s Version” LPs for her debut album and “Reputation” are yet to be fully completed or released, she intends to republish the original versions instead.
