Woman … friend … wife.
Maggie Gyllenhaal’s new movie, “The Bride,” stars Jessie Buckley as a strikingly blonde and haunting bride. Warner Bros. released the first trailer for the film on Tuesday, giving fans a glimpse of the dark and atmospheric story.
Set in Chicago during the Great Depression, “The Bride” tells the story of Frank (Christian Bale), a creature inspired by Frankenstein, who seeks the help of Dr. Euphronius (Annette Bening) to create a companion for himself – someone undead to share his life with.
The film’s description promises a story that’s more intense than anyone expects, filled with murder, supernatural elements, a revolutionary cultural shift, and a passionate, dangerous love affair.
The movie is set to hit theaters in March.

Warner Bros. has recently had several movies that didn’t perform well in theaters, like ‘Mickey 17’ and ‘The Alto Knights.’ Now, the studio is hoping upcoming films, including ‘A Minecraft Movie,’ will improve its success.
The trailer introduces the Bride, who was secretly created as part of a sinister plan by Frank and a doctor. She’s initially trusting and devoted, but increasingly wonders about her origins. With a spooky, Halloween-inspired look and a dark electronic soundtrack, the teaser hints at a fresh, edgy take on both Mary Shelley’s original “Frankenstein” novel and the 1935 film “Bride of Frankenstein.” At one point, bold orange text appears on screen declaring, “Here comes the mother f- bride.”
Gyllenhaal, who also wrote and co-produced the film, shared the trailer Tuesday on Instagram.
She shared a post saying she was excited and nervous to finally show everyone her new baby, and asked if they were ready for the reveal.
Rosamund Pike, Olivia Wilde, and Jake Gyllenhaal-also an actor in “The Bride”-all shared supportive comments.

Two Frankenstein movies are coming soon! Guillermo del Toro’s “Frankenstein” will be in theaters October 17th and on Netflix November 7th. Shortly after, another adaptation, “The Bride,” will be released. Jacob Elordi, known for his role in “Euphoria,” will play Dr. Frankenstein’s monster.
Recently, the classic Frankenstein story has been reimagined in films like Zelda Williams’ “Lisa Frankenstein” (2024) and Yorgos Lanthimos’ “Poor Things” (2023), which won Emma Stone an Academy Award.
