Henry Cavill is incredibly busy, and his career is thriving again. Almost two years after his time as Superman ended, he’s finding success with new projects in 2026.
In recent years, Henry Cavill has finished his work on two big series: he left Netflix’s The Witcher after three seasons and played Superman for the last time in the DC movie universe. Now, while filming the new Highlander movie, fans are revisiting one of the 43-year-old actor’s recent films, causing it to climb back up the streaming charts.
Since its February 2024 release in theaters, Argylle has quickly become a popular streaming hit for Henry Cavill. According to data from FlixPatrol, the James Bond-style comedy is currently the most-watched title on Apple TV in several countries, including Austria, Cyprus, Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, Slovenia, South Africa, Sweden, and Switzerland. The film, directed by Matthew Vaughn and written and produced by Jason Fuchs, is also the second most popular title on Apple TV in Belgium, Chile, Denmark, Mozambique, Norway, Portugal, and Slovakia.
Currently, the movie Argylle is gaining popularity on Apple TV in several countries. It’s the #3 trending movie in Tajikistan, Luxembourg, and Antigua and Barbuda, and ranks #4 in Cape Verde, Lithuania, and Poland. In Swaziland and England, viewers have pushed it to the #5 spot. This renewed interest comes at a good time for Henry Cavill, as his next film, In the Grey, will be released in theaters on May 15th. That film reunites him with director Guy Ritchie, who also directed The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.
The movie Argylle earned a total of $96.2 million globally in theaters, with $45.2 million coming from the US and $51 million from international sales. As of today, it has a 33% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, but audiences seem to like it more, giving it a 70% score.
Many people don’t realize that Henry Cavill’s movie, Argylle, is connected to director Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman series. It’s essentially a spin-off taking place within the Kingsman universe. While there were plans to eventually combine the two storylines, the 2024 film stands on its own as a spy action adventure.
In a review for ScreenRant, Molly Freeman noted that Argylle loses focus in its final act, prioritizing flashy action over developing its characters. This makes it hard to follow—and care about—the characters amidst all the twists. She also felt the talented cast, including Bryce Dallas Howard, Samuel L. Jackson, and John Cena, wasn’t given enough to do, and they ended up playing characters that lacked depth.
The movie Argylle, released in 2024, received mostly negative reviews, with critics focusing on the script, the large cast, and the director’s approach. Many believe Henry Cavill’s role in Argylle is the closest he’s come to playing a James Bond-type character – a role he’s long been considered for, especially now that Amazon is involved with the next Bond film. Although the 007 role isn’t happening for Cavill right away, he’s taking on another major project: he’ll star in and help produce a Warhammer 40,000 series for Amazon MGM Studios. He’s a longtime fan of the Warhammer board game and this live-action adaptation is planned to launch a shared cinematic universe based on it.
You can watch Argylle on Apple TV in most countries, but in the United States, it’s available on Prime Video.
