Henry Cavill’s ’80s action remake gets an exciting update

Henry Cavill’s ’80s action remake has received an exciting update.

Under the guidance of director Chad Stahelski, the reimagined version of ‘Highlander’ features Henry Cavill in the role of Connor MacLeod, a timeless Scottish swordsman who engages in combat with fellow immortals to claim a highly sought-after power.

For more than ten years, the project has been under development, and it was in 2016 that Stahelski stepped into the role of director. Now, the director has shared some encouraging news about the film’s progress.

Currently, we’re busy getting everything ready for it. Our goal is to begin filming around mid-September, initially in London, as shared during a recent conversation with Deadline. I certainly hope it turns out well.

This piece of good news for Highlander enthusiasts doesn’t mark the first occasion that production schedules have been disclosed.

2023 saw the announcement that the film’s production would commence in the subsequent year. However, delays occurred, and eventually, Stahelski disclosed that shooting would take place in January 2025.

He mentioned to Collider last July, “We begin filming in January in Scotland, which is why I travel immediately afterward. I’m heading to Scotland on Monday for the final location inspection.

1986’s original “Highlander” featured Christopher Lambert in the main part, with Sean Connery and Clancy Brown also starring. After the film became a hit, it spawned four more movies, a television series, an animated sequel, numerous books, and various video games.

Earlier, Stahelski shared with Digital Spy that he cherishes the movie due to its inspiring impact on his upcoming remake and added, “I adore the original, I acknowledge its outdated aspects, but I am captivated by its atmosphere and mythology.

In essence, I’d propose we strive to preserve the atmosphere, lore, and emotional resonance from the initial film. Let’s avoid getting carried away with an overabundance of storylines, instead focusing on expanding the realm of the immortals.

Regardless of human activities, my focus lies on joining the realm of the eternal. I strive to remain loyal to the authentic roots as much as possible.”

Or simply:

“I’m more interested in the eternal than the everyday happenings of mortals.

There is currently no release date for Highlander.

The debut print issue of Digital Spy’s magazine, “British Comedy Legends,” is available! You can purchase it from local newsstands or online for only £3.99.
