The long-awaited reboot of *Highlander*, which has been in the works since 2008, is closer than ever to starting filming, but it’s hit a snag. Henry Cavill, cast as Connor MacLeod, was injured during preparations, causing filming to be delayed. Cavill recently shared a poem and photos of his leg injury online, seemingly addressing the situation.
Admittedly, the former Superman actor didn’t actually mention Highlander in his Instagram post, but he did accompany the photo of his leg propped up as it heals with the poem Invictus by William Ernest Henley. See for yourself:

The exact details of Henry Cavill’s leg injury during *Highlander* training remain unclear. However, according to Deadline, filming is now likely to start in early next year. It’s possible Amazon MGM Studios, who are releasing the film through United Artists, asked him not to discuss the injury. Everyone at TopMob wishes him a quick recovery! We also enjoyed seeing the cute French Bulldog and *Warhammer* books in the photos.

I recently heard a fantastic story about Russell Crowe and Henry Cavill! Apparently, years ago, when Henry was just a teenager, Russell gave him some really solid career advice. It wasn’t even related to a project they were working on together – Russell just took the time to mentor this young, aspiring actor. It’s amazing to think about, especially knowing how both their careers have blossomed, and way before anyone was even talking about a ‘Highlander’ reboot! It really shows Russell’s generosity and foresight, and it’s a cool little piece of Hollywood history.
The upcoming reboot of ‘Highlander’ starring Henry Cavill is expected to be a much more demanding role than his previous parts as Superman or Geralt of Rivia in ‘The Witcher’.
News that Henry Cavill was potentially joining the *Highlander* reboot first surfaced in 2021, but it took until 2023 for confirmation that he would star in the lead role. The film was scheduled to be his next project after finishing *Enola Holmes 3* in June, and he also has *Voltron* and a *Warhammer 40,000* series for Amazon in the works. Unfortunately, a recent leg injury adds another challenge to getting the *Highlander* reboot made.
This summer brought news of the cast joining Henry Cavill in the upcoming *Highlander* reboot. Russell Crowe will play Ramirez, and Dave Bautista is cast as The Kurgan. Karen Gillan will star as Heather, Connor MacLeod’s wife, while Djimon Hounsou will portray an African immortal warrior. Marisa Abela and Max Zhang also have roles, though their characters haven’t been revealed yet. Chad Stahelski is directing the film, based on a screenplay by Michael Finch.
We still don’t know when *Highlander* will be released, which might be a good thing while Henry Cavill recovers. In the meantime, you can watch his latest film, *The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare*, on Starz – it’s available as an add-on to either Hulu or Amazon Prime Video.
