There may be spoilers in the rest of the review

Okay, so “Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II” kicks off with a really sad backstory – back in 1957, a girl named Mary Lou tragically died at prom. Then, the movie jumps forward thirty years, and we meet Vicki Carpenter, who’s getting ready for her prom. But things get spooky because she starts having these seriously terrifying nightmares.

With prom night drawing near, Mary Lou’s increasingly powerful abilities cause her visions and nightmares to become much more intense and dangerous. At the same time, those who were at the ill-fated prom start to feel like their past is catching up to them.

Verdict on Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II

Recap

This movie tells the story of a prom queen who was murdered and returns as a spirit to take over the body of the new prom queen. Fueled by revenge, she targets those responsible for her death, leaving a trail of victims.

Best Parts

I was genuinely scared watching this! The whole concept of revenge creates a really unsettling atmosphere that kept me hooked. Honestly, some of the nightmare scenarios felt as intense as anything I’ve seen in ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’. It’s a truly disturbing story that could have easily worked as a fantastic movie on its own. And that opening sequence? Absolutely terrifying, especially considering the effects were done back then – it just adds to the dread!

Worst Parts

A major flaw is that the film is marketed as a sequel to Prom Night, despite having no connection to the original movie.

Final ThoughtsHello Mary Lou: Prom Night II is a chilling, scare-filled movie.
