Hello Kitty Gets a TAN?! New Summer Plushies Revealed!

Fans will be delighted this summer as they receive a fresh line of cuddly plush toys inspired by their beloved character, courtesy of the latest official launch from Sanrio.

Sanrio’s official online US store has introduced a fresh batch of Hello Kitty poolside plush toys for summer. Dubbed the ‘Summer Pool Series’, these 12-inch plushies showcase a tanned version of Hello Kitty adorned with a flowery swim cap and suit, along with intricate embroidery and applique accents. As of now, this plush toy is available at a 13% discount, making it the most reduced item from the Summer Pool Series to date.

Sanrio Gives Hello Kitty a Tan in Official ‘Summer Pool’ Plushie Toy Collection

The Summer Pool Series includes two Hello Kitty plush toys styled as bean dolls – one in white and another depicting the main character sporting a sun-kissed tan from summertime. These smaller plushies are approximately six inches tall, with Hello Kitty on a colorful pool float and matching swimwear. Each toy is also offered in a compact, four-inch mascot clip size that’s ideal for attaching to bags and taking along on beach trips or when escaping the heat.

Hello Kitty initially appeared on a vinyl coin purse back in 1975, marking her entry into the world. For several years, she was relatively unknown internationally. However, it didn’t take long for her distinctive style to gain traction abroad, propelling her to fame as a global cultural icon. Since then, she has graced animated movies and series, video games numbering close to two dozen, and a vast array of merchandise that generates significant revenue for Sanrio each year through retail sales worldwide.

Over the past few months, Hello Kitty has collaborated with various pop culture giants to launch a line of unique merchandise. In April, they released a set of collectible keychains showcasing blendings of beloved Hello Kitty characters and Monster Hunter creatures. These included Bad Badtz-Maru paired with Nargacuga, Cinnamoroll with Velkhana, Little Twin Stars with Rathalos and Rathian, and an accurate representation of Tuxedo Sam with Valstrax. This followed other recent collaborations from the Sanrio brand.
