Helix bundle drops in VALORANT with wildly-priced flex item, and players are not happy with it
In the game VALORANT, the Year of the Snake package, known as Helix, has been released. However, a significant number of players are expressing dissatisfaction over the high cost of this flexible item within the bundle.
To honor the Year of the Snake, VALORANT introduced a fresh bundle featuring a green color scheme and snake-themed effects. Yet, it was the pricing of the Helix flex item, the latest addition to their inventory, that drew some unfavorable comments towards this particular bundle.
Helix bundle price
Since January 24th, the Helix bundle has been on sale in the game store and costs 6,940 VALORANT points in total. This amount roughly equates to about $70, which includes a card, spray, flexible item, phantom, specter, daggers, and a buddy, if you choose to purchase the entire collection. As always, you can opt to buy each item individually as well.
What surprised the players, though, was the cost of the customizable items, often referred to as ‘Flex Items’. These are objects your character carries which add a unique touch to your gaming experience without impacting the actual gameplay. In other words, they serve a decorative purpose only.
Flex item price
The cost of the flexible item in VALORANT is 1,375 points. To help you understand its value, let me tell you it’s just 400 points less expensive than the Phantom – that’s quite a difference! To many players, this item seems overly expensive, given that it should be priced somewhere around the Gun Buddy and Spray cost range.
Players have voiced their opinions about Riot Games, stating that they feel their concerns and desires, such as improvements to the replay system, newly ranked rewards, and honor systems, aren’t being given enough priority. Simultaneously, there has been a wave of complaints regarding the lack of ability to preview the Helix flex prior to purchase. As our screenshot above shows, there is no option available to view how the flex would appear during gameplay, unlike other cosmetics, as demonstrated in our screenshots of the Helix spectre below.
Generally speaking, the feedback on social media regarding this product has been quite negative. While users acknowledge its stylish design, they feel the cost is excessive for such an item. For some time now, there’s been a lot of criticism about “bundle price increases” ever since the game was launched in 2020.
