Helen Mirren and Celia Imrie’s classic British comedy is on TV tonight

If it happens to be the weekend of the Oscars, yet you’re not drawn to any of this year’s nominees, worry not! We have a perfect film that could captivate your attention instead.

The British comedy movie “Calendar Girls,” initially screened in 2003 (making us feel a bit nostalgic), boasts an exceptionally talented ensemble including Helen Mirren, Celia Imrie, Julie Walters, Penelope Wilton, Philip Glenister, Geraldine James, Ciarán Hinds, Linda Bassett and many others.

The concept is derived from a true account of an incident in April 1999, when a Women’s Institute group located in Yorkshire decided to create a nude calendar as a fundraising effort for Leukaemia Research (now known as Blood Cancer UK). This initiative was sparked by the tragic loss of one of their members due to cancer.

If you’ve never watched it or simply feel like catching up with an old favorite, the movie “Calendar Girls” is being broadcast tonight at 10:30 PM on BBC One.

You’ll wrap up right as it’s time for you to transition to ITV1 to catch the live Oscars broadcast, but you may not see the opening segment of this year’s ceremony.

If you’re not staying up late for the Oscars, there’s no need to fret! You can catch the show “Calendar Girls” on BBC iPlayer soon after it airs on BBC One.

You too have the option to stream “Calendar Girls” instantly, if you’re currently a Disney+ subscriber. For those who aren’t yet members, you can easily join the service starting at just £4.99 per month for the Disney+ Standard with Ads plan.

This year, Helen Mirren and Celia Imrie are set to appear together in a highly anticipated screen adaptation of Richard Osman’s “Thursday Murder Club.

In this production, Elizabeth and Joyce, who are part of the main detective team, will be acting alongside Pierce Brosnan and Sir Ben Kingsley. The characters played by Brosnan (Ron) and Kingsley (Ibrahim) complete the cast.

Tonight, “Calendar Girls” is set to play on BBC One at 10:30 PM. You’ll be able to catch it on BBC iPlayer shortly following the live airing.
