Helen George, famous for her role as Trixie in Call the Midwife, is taking on a new acting challenge. She’ll be starring in a stage revival of High Society at London’s Barbican next summer, followed by a tour across the UK and Ireland.
This musical is adapted from the classic 1956 film starring Frank Sinatra and Grace Kelly, which was originally based on the 1940 play The Philadelphia Story. The story follows the lavish wedding of the year as it falls apart when past and present loves compete for attention, all while a nosy reporter tries to dig up dirt at the beautiful seaside estate.
George will be acting with Felicity Kendal, known from The Good Life, in a play running from May 19th to July 11th, 2026. Afterwards, the play will tour for 20 weeks between July and November, with performances in cities like Cardiff, Belfast, Glasgow, and Dublin.

I’m really excited about the new production of High Society! From what I’ve heard, it’s going to be a fantastic show with music and lyrics by Cole Porter. They’re describing it as a fun mix of romance, clever humor, a bit of confusion with who’s who, and just generally charming music – sounds perfect for a night out!

George announced she’s thrilled to be performing as Tracy Samantha Lord in a new production of the classic Cole Porter musical High Society, directed by Rachel Kavanaugh next year.
I’ve always loved the theatre, and I especially enjoyed playing Anna in The King and I. That’s why I was thrilled to take on the role of Tracy, which allowed me to showcase my skills in musical comedy. Cole Porter’s musicals are known for being clever, stylish, and full of memorable songs, and High Society is a perfect example of that.

I’m incredibly excited that the show will premiere at the Barbican and then travel across the UK. I’m eager for audiences to experience a delightful night filled with laughter, love, and fantastic music.
Kendal described the upcoming show as the ideal summer entertainment, saying, “There’s something special about sharing a fantastic performance with a live audience, and Cole Porter was a master of musical comedy.” She expressed her excitement to begin work and believes audiences will absolutely love the show next year.
