Helen Flanagan’s Shocking Body Image Confession and Eating Disorder Battle Revealed

Helen Flanagan openly admitted about her struggle with an eating disorder during her teenage years, sharing intimate details about her body image concerns.

34-year-old actress from Coronation Street posted an old picture on Instagram over the weekend, showing her breastfeeding her son Charlie.

Helen revealed in October that she suffered from an eating disorder in her teenage years.

Now, it’s come to light that she has only just reintroduced bread and pasta into her diet, following a two-year period where she had been abstaining from them.

Last month, Helen mentioned that she gained some weight due to participating in Dry January, causing her to crave snacks more frequently.

However, she ended her sincere message by stating: “As women, it seems like we can never truly be content, always finding something to criticize. But perhaps with age, it becomes a pleasant experience as we grow increasingly confident in our own skin.

She titled the photo: “I gained some weight this January, participated in Dry January, and decided to join my boyfriend in it.

After recognizing that my drinking patterns might not be optimal for me, I decided to reduce my alcohol intake. However, this change has led me to crave snacks more often, but it’s all part of the journey.

She mentioned that she reintroduced bread and pasta into her diet this month, after having avoided them for approximately two years. She admitted that her eating habits may seem peculiar at times due to an eating disorder she developed during her teenage years, but she’s making an effort to manage it.

In a simpler, more conversational manner, the sentence could be rephrased like this: “I guess, as women, we rarely find complete happiness because there’s always something to criticize. But I suppose as we grow older, it becomes a pleasant experience to simply feel more at ease with ourselves.

This year marks my 35th birthday, and as fellow women, I believe it’s crucial for us to stand together. Regardless of whether one chooses to undergo surgery or not, whatever decision brings joy should be supported.

In October, it came to light that the actress had recently started consuming bread again, as she had struggled with an eating disorder ever since she turned 16.

On The Mail’s The Life of Bryony podcast, she shared that when she was approximately 16 years old, she had an unhealthy fixation on weighing seven stones (about 42 kilograms or 93 pounds), despite her naturally slim build.

I found myself surrounded by numerous actresses and models, all busy with their photoshoots. Their charisma was infectious; I yearned to emulate them. My meals were scarcely touched.

Helen mentioned that both the school nurse and Coronation Street producers would contact her mother then.

‘I remember kind of like school nurse being involved and like Coronation Street,’ she said.

They would phone my mother, and she essentially told me, “Helen, you’re at risk of losing your job.” I believe the underlying message was a need for control.

She said she now tries to eat healthily because of her daughter, but still struggles.

‘I think if you have an eating disorder, it always stays with you,’ she said.

To be completely candid, I believe certain aspects of my eating patterns could use improvement, but I consider myself healthy due to the constant awareness I have regarding my daughter.

It seems that having Matilda in my life is extremely beneficial for me. I feel the responsibility to set a positive example, as I don’t want her to struggle with an eating disorder, as it can be truly wretched. Recently, I’ve resumed eating bread again since I had stopped before.

After the breakup with my former fiancee, I found myself developing some unusual eating habits. One day I decided to avoid both bread and pasta entirely, and I developed a few peculiar food habits.

Her candid post comes after she was banned from driving for six months last month.

At Wirral Magistrates’ Court, Helen received a suspension, as her arguments that the penalty would impose ‘exceptional hardship’ on her were disregarded.

Known primarily for playing Rosie Webster on the ITV soap opera Coronation Street, Helen asserted that her partner, Robbie Talbot, was behind the wheel of her £66,000 Audi Q7 during two speeding incidents in a 17-day span last June.

Instead, she faced charges for not providing details about the identity of the driver in two separate instances.

Following her court hearing, the mother of three reposted a message on her Instagram from podcast host Bryony Gordon.

In my latest share, I posted an enchanting photo of a sunset beach backdrop, accompanied by the thought-provoking phrase, “This too shall pass, but what the heck?

Helen asserted that she cannot cover the cost of the six-month suspension since she’s presently experiencing financial hardship, making it difficult for her to pay for pricey taxis to transport her kids to school.

Despite my ardent belief that a ban would spare Helen from further mishaps given her current six points, the authorities seemed unwilling to accept that such a measure would exempt her from extraordinary predicaments.

They also ordered her to pay a £2,000 fine, £800 victim surcharge and £110 for prosecution costs.
