Helen Flanagan candidly discusses co-parenting struggle with ex Scott Sinclair and ‘mum guilt’ over different bonds with her three children

In an open and honest discussion, Helen Flanagan shared her challenges with co-parenting and feelings of ‘mother guilt’ concerning the varying relationships she has with her three kids, during a heartfelt post on Monday.

As a devoted mother of Matilda (9), Delilah (6), and Charlie (3), I’ve been candidly acknowledging the challenges I’ve faced in my role lately.

In the year 2022, after spending 13 years as a couple, Helen parted ways with her professional footballer partner. Subsequently, she began a new relationship with construction worker Robbie Talbot, who is 45 years old. However, their romance also ended in May.

She titled an Instagram post showing a collection of photos, ‘Reminiscing about some of my best moments with the kids this year (kiss mark)’

Lately, being a mother has been challenging for me as I often feel overwhelmed and stressed. I yearn to return to those moments where I am fully engaged, truly present, and genuinely relishing the experience – just like I’ve always dreamt of since wanting to become a mom.

As a devoted admirer, I’ve been grappling with an unsettling sensation I call “Matilda-guilt.” It seems that my attention is constantly drawn towards her brother, leaving me feeling as if I’m not giving Matilda the enthusiasm and engagement that I truly desire to provide. This situation has left me with a sense of inadequacy, as if she’s always witnessing me at my least favorable moments.

In a continuation of the conversation, the actress expressed: “I sense that she requires tranquility, yet I can’t seem to provide that. However, I feel as though I’m understanding Delilah better now and our connection is growing stronger. This is something I shouldn’t dwell on negatively.

‘Charlie I could pull my hair out sometimes, I feel like I’ve got the male version of me x.

Sharing child-rearing responsibilities can be challenging, especially when parents aren’t collaborating effectively or finding it difficult to discuss their concerns regarding the children.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I believe that striving for your personal best while being compassionate towards oneself is key. These images, which bring joy to my heart, are ones I’ve chosen to share with you all, not just because they’re beautiful, but because they resonate deeply with me and uplift my spirit.

The news follows Helen announcing that she’s fully recovered and residing near the Starbucks drive-thru, as her driving license has been reinstated after a six-month suspension.

In January, the former Corrie actress testified in court that her ex-boyfriend, Robbie Talbot, was behind the wheel of her £66,000 Audi Q7 on both occasions when it was pulled over for speeding.

Consequently, she was prohibited from using the roads for a period of six months, even though she asserted that she was experiencing financial difficulties and could not manage the cost of taxis to transport her kids to school.

Following a recent ride in her expensive car, Helen shared an update on her Instagram Stories, delighting her audience last week.

Overjoyed, she exclaimed: “I’m thrilled to regain my driver’s license! At first, it felt odd after a ten-minute drive, but now, I simply adore being behind the wheel again.

I’ve returned to my usual state. It feels like I’m back to who I truly am, now that I’m back at The Trafford Centre and residing near the Starbucks drive-thru again. Simply put, I feel like ‘me’ once more.

Last month, I found myself venting my frustrations in a frenzied social media post, lamenting how unbearably difficult life has become without a vehicle. Living as far off the beaten path as I do, I’ve been struggling to complete even the most basic errands or stock up on essentials due to my remote location.

Through a post on her Instagram Stories, she clarified that due to her ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), she accidentally combined the necessary documents for reapplying for her license, thus causing a delay in the renewal process.

It’s incredibly inconvenient for me not to have my driver’s license, as I reside in a remote area without easy access to public transportation, so I’ve had no choice but to stop driving.

‘It’s been incredibly inconvenient; for instance, we’ve run out of toilet paper at home, and I can’t step out to buy some. Luckily, my friend is kind enough to bring me some.’

In court, Helen explained that her secluded countryside residence required a 10-minute car journey just to reach the nearest grocery store for necessities like bread and milk. She admitted that living in such a remote area would present significant challenges if she didn’t have a vehicle.

The actress residing close to Bolton, in Greater Manchester, stated that she made approximately £70,000 the previous year. However, she emphasized that her earnings fluctuate, explaining that she couldn’t spare a £10 taxi fare for taking her child to nursery.

Stephen Kirk, the prosecutor, detailed that Helen, who previously had six traffic violation points due to speeding, neglected to reveal the driver of the vehicle when it was caught exceeding the speed limit on Merseyside in June of the previous year. Specifically, the car was clocked doing 42mph in a 30mph zone and 51mph in a 40mph zone.

The magistrates added six penalty points for each offense she committed, bringing her grand total to 18 points. This is significantly higher than the usual 12-point limit, beyond which magistrates typically impose a driving ban unless there are extraordinary circumstances preventing it.

In an attempt to save her license, Helen apologetically stated that she regrettably believed it was permissible for her boyfriend to assert he was the driver instead of her at that moment.

Helen informed the court that she dedicates her entire day as a ’round-the-clock’ parent to Matilda, aged nine, Delilah, aged six, and Charlie, aged three. She frequently uses the car to transport them to nursery, school, and various activities.

She mentioned that her primary role is taking care of the family at home as their father is often absent for work. At present, it’s quite challenging for her to generate income since she does make some money through social media platforms, however, the amount can fluctuate.

She clarified: ‘It seems people might assume I can effortlessly pay for a chauffeur, but nothing could be further from the truth.’

‘I’ve got enough money in my account to pay off my tax and my VAT and basically that’s about it.’

Responding to inquiry from solicitor Patrick Boyers about her method of transporting son Charlie to nursery without a car, she explained: ‘I usually arrange for an Uber (taxi) to take Charlie to nursery. However, that’s quite costly. At present, I’m having some financial difficulties.’

When the clerk asked about the cost, she responded by sharing that she had taken an Uber ride from her home to the nursery that morning, and it had cost £10 on that occasion.

As a committed parent, I too have experienced that my child doesn’t thrive in taxis. Instead, he seems to be much more comfortable, and safer, when properly secured in a car.
