Heated Rivalry gets season 2 filming update as steamy hockey drama trends in the UK

Now that Heated Rivalry has launched in the UK, good news for eager fans: a second season is already confirmed! Connor Storrie, one of the show’s main actors, recently shared some encouraging news about when we might see it.

This Canadian drama series is adapted from Rachel Reid’s Game Changers novels and follows the developing romance between two gay hockey players who are secretly in love and play for rival teams.

I’m so excited to see Storrie and Hudson Williams as Ilya and Shane! And it’s amazing they’ve also got François Arnaud and Robbie GK back as Scott and Kip – they’re two of my absolute favorite characters!

The six-episode series quickly became a hit worldwide and premiered on NOW in the UK last weekend. It’s currently still the most popular show on the platform.

During an interview on the US TODAY show this week, Storrie was asked the question everyone is wondering: when will more become available?

He told Craig Melvin that Jacob Tierney, who writes and directs the show, is still working on it.

“I think we’re going to be filming, I think… soon. I don’t know when, exactly.”

When Melvin asked if “soon” meant “this summer,” Storrie smiled and agreed, saying, “I’m thinking around then.”

Season one started filming in Ontario and Quebec in April 2025, and the show became available internationally in late November. If season two takes about the same amount of time to produce, we might see it return in early 2027. Only time will tell if that timeline holds true.

Season one is currently enjoying a very high 99% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The New Statesman praised it as a delightfully simple and entertaining show, playfully asking: “What’s better than one attractive man? Two!”

The Evening Standard gave the work a glowing review, calling it a joyful and explicit exploration of gay romance with a satisfying conclusion. They highlighted its unabashed celebration of same-sex intimacy, noting it fully lives up to its promise of ‘lashings of gay sex with a happy ending.’

The Financial Times described the show as energetic and exciting, praising its fast pace and ability to keep viewers engaged.

Heated Rivalry is now streaming on NOW in the UK.
