Heartstopper star casts doubt on rumored MCU role

As a lifelong Marvel fan who’s been following these stories since the days of comic books tucked under my school desk, I can’t help but feel a twinge of excitement about the rumors surrounding Hulkling and Kit Connor. The idea of seeing Connor, whom I adore from his heartwarming performance in Heartstopper, stepping into the MCU is just too tantalizing to ignore.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is venturing into unexplored realms with its Multiverse Storyline, offering fresh opportunities for narrative exploration by introducing intriguing new characters. This is evident in projects like “Shang-Chi: Legend of the Ten Rings”, “She-Hulk: Lawyer” and “Agatha All Along”.

There’s talk about a possible Young Avengers venture in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, featuring heroes like Kate Bishop, Kamala Khan, and Cassie Lang. It’s speculated that they will join the team once it officially appears on screen. Additionally, there are indications that the offspring of Scarlet Witch, Wanda Maximoff, might be part of the story too, as both Tommy and Billy Maximoff have been presented in recent productions.

It’s been whispered that Hulkling might make an entrance later on, and there are whispers that Kit Connor from Heartstopper could take on this role. However, Connor himself has expressed some skepticism about appearing in a Marvel production (at the moment).

Kit Connor doesn’t think he’s a good choice for Hulkling

According to recent gossip, Kit Connor might have been tapped to portray Hulkling in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and this role could materialize before an anticipated Young Avengers series. However, during a conversation with Omlete, the Heartstopper actor has dismissed these rumors, expressing his belief that he is not the ideal fit for the part.

“I don’t think I would be a good choice for Hulkling, to be honest. I think people would get tired of seeing me and Joe [Locke] together eventually, if we kept doing this in the coming years.”

In the comics, Hulkling and Billy Maximoff, also known as Wiccan, are romantic partners who later get married. It’s suggested that Joe Locke’s character in “Agatha All Along” might be representing Billy. Known in the series as Teen, Locke’s character is a new enigma, and people are guessing about his identity. The biggest mystery at this point is whether or not Teen will turn out to be a part of the Young Avengers.

Should Hulkling enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s clear why fans believe Connor would excel in the role. Not only does he seem perfectly suited for the part of Hulkling, but his existing chemistry with Billy (assuming Locke’s character is indeed Billy) from Netflix’s “Heartstopper” could make their on-screen relationship even more compelling.

Previously, Connor has mentioned the possibility of playing Hulkling, as a rumor surfaced during an interview with Josh Horowitz from MTV at San Diego Comic-Con. The actor revealed that someone had informed him about the rumor, stating it was the first he’d heard of it. For now, Connor has decided to step away from the Marvel universe and focus on his character Locke. However, he didn’t completely dismiss the idea of a future role in the MCU.

Audience members remained somewhat skeptical about his statements, since other Marvel actors had denied involvement in upcoming movies, yet ended up appearing in different Marvel Cinematic Universe productions later on.

In the future, it remains uncertain whether Connor and Locke will collaborate on a Marvel production; however, in the interim, fans can look forward to seeing them reunite in “Heartstopper” season 3, where they reprise their roles as Nick Nelson and Charlie Spring for an additional eight episodes.

In simple terms, “Heartstopper” Season 3 will start streaming on Netflix this coming Thursday, October 3rd. On the other hand, fresh episodes of “Agatha All Along” will be available for streaming every Wednesday on Disney Plus.
