How to unlock Insect Catching in Heartopia

To start catching bugs, you’ll first need to unlock the Insect Catching Hobby. Similar to Birdwatching and other hobbies you can pick up later in the game, this one becomes available once you’ve made some progress.

Once you reach Developer Level 6 in Heartopia, you’ll be able to choose a new hobby. You’ll receive a Hobby Expansion Ticket that permanently unlocks one of the available hobbies. But before you can pick, the game asks you to first meet each Hobby Mentor.

You can start catching insects by visiting Naniwa, who has a garden by the river. They’ll teach you everything you need to know – how to catch bugs, why they’re important, and how this hobby fits the peaceful life in Heartopia.

Once you’ve talked to all three Hobby Mentors, go back to Naniwa and give them your Hobby Expansion Ticket. This will permanently unlock the Insect Catching hobby. If you decide to focus on a different hobby first, you’ll need to get another ticket before you can unlock Insect Catching. Once unlocked, Naniwa will give you a bubble net, and you can officially start catching insects!

How to Catch Insects in Heartopia

Catching insects in Heartopia is easy to pick up, but don’t think it will be effortless – insects will struggle to escape! Here’s how to catch them:

  • First, equip your bubble net from the toolbox.
  • Next, approach an insect carefully without running.
  • Next, tap the action button to cast a quick bubble.
  • Also, you can hold the button to send a bubble from a distance.
  • Release the charged bubble when you are close enough to capture the insect.

And that’s it, that’s how you successfully catch your first insect in Heartopia.
