How to unlock Cat Care Hobby in Heartopia
At Heartopia, you’ll need to demonstrate you can properly care for a pet before you can adopt a cat. This means the ability to care for cats – the ‘Cat Care Hobby’ – becomes available only after you’ve completed and understood several other activities first.
Okay, so if you want to get into taking care of cats in the game, it’s not something you can jump into right away. You have to get your Developer’s Guild level up to 12 first, and honestly, that takes a while! You earn points for the guild by just playing consistently and getting these ‘contribution medals,’ so it’s definitely something you work towards as you get further into the game – it’s more of a mid-game thing, not for beginners.

When your guild reaches the necessary level, go to the Town Square and visit the Pet Supplies Shop. You’ll find Mrs. Joan there – she manages everything related to pets. Talk to her and trade a Hobby Expansion Ticket to start the Cat Care Hobby.
But that’s not all! Before you can start the Cat Care hobby, you need to have already unlocked the Gardening, Fishing, Cooking, Birdwatching, and Insect Catching hobbies first. Once those are available, Cat Care will become an option, and you can begin.
How to get a Cat in Heartopia
Once you’ve unlocked the Cat Care Hobby, you’re ready to adopt a cat! Head back to the Pet Supplies Shop and check out the cats available each day. The selection changes daily, so you’ll see different breeds, colors, eye types, and personalities every time you visit.

Patience is key when finding the perfect cat. You can always check back later if you don’t see one you like, and there’s no cost to wait. Once you’ve chosen a cat, you’ll need to pay 500 gold for a check-up to ensure it’s healthy.
Once you’ve adopted, you can give your cat a name and take them home right away. Feel free to change the name later if you like! Just so you know, we don’t accept returns or exchanges for cats.
How to take care of your Cat in Heartopia
So, I just got a cat in Heartopia, and honestly, taking care of it feels like a real part of the game. It’s not just a chore – everything you do with your pet feels natural and actually pretty rewarding. It’s cool that the game focuses so much on building that connection with your furry friend!

To increase your bond with your cat, you should do the following activities regularly:
- Feeding
- Petting
- Bathing
- Playing
- Walking your cat around town
Spending time with your cat strengthens your bond, making them more likely to give you gifts. A stronger bond also means better training and faster growth for your cat. So, regular interaction is key to getting the most out of the game!

Although how a cat looks is important to some players, it’s a good idea to also consider its personality. Each cat has two randomly assigned traits that affect how it behaves, so choose one whose traits match what you’re looking for.
Some notable traits include:
| Cat Personality | Description |
|---|---|
| Chatterbox | Meows frequently and vocalizes often. |
| Clingy | Follows you closely and may damage furniture. |
| Energetic | Wants to play more often and stays active. |
| Naughty | Gets into trouble more easily. |
| Sensitive | Picky eater and selective with food. |
| Slow | Hunger decreases more slowly. |
| Sluggish | Energy drains faster. |
| Sociable | Craves attention and frequent interaction. |
| Unsociable | Prefers independence and minimal interaction. |
While a cat’s personality influences how it acts day-to-day, it doesn’t limit its potential. Any cat can learn tricks, be trained, and form a strong bond with you. Therefore, it’s best to choose cats you truly connect with, instead of focusing on finding ones with ‘ideal’ traits.
