Hearthstone charges into Year of the Chicken with Leeroy Jenkins!
“At least I have chicken!”
Today is April Fool’s Day, and Hearthstone has pulled off a laugh-out-loud joke. Instead of proceeding with the Year of the Raptor, they’ve decided to make 2025 the Year of the Rooster!
Hearthstone enters Year of the Chicken with Leeroy Jenkins
On April Fool’s Day this year, Hearthstone honored Leeroy Jenkins by introducing mythical hero skins for every class. For those who may not recall, Leeroy Jenkins has become a well-known figure and internet sensation over time. Approximately two decades ago, during a discussion about strategy among the PALS FOR LIFE guild, one player named Ben Schulz abruptly declared “Time to act! Let’s get this show on the road!” before charging headlong into the area while shouting the famous “Leeroooooy Jeeeenkiiiiins!” phrase.
The guild found itself overrun by baby dragons after their eggs hatched due to being too close. Amidst this chaos, Leeroy Jenkins kept drawing enemy attention while some guild members attempted to follow the initial strategy. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out. After the defeat, fellow guild members from PALS FOR LIFE criticized the reckless actions of player Leeroy Jenkins. In response, he jokingly declared, “At least I have chicken.
Leeroy Jenkins in Hearthstone: “At least I have chicken.”
Beyond the April Fools’ prank on Hearthstone in 2025, Leeroy Jenkins is indeed a card within the game. In the current version of the game, he functions as a 4-mana, 6/2 legendary neutral minion. His unique abilities include Charge and Battlecry, with the latter causing him to summon two 1/1 Whelps for his opponent upon deployment.
As a gamer, when I engage him on the battlefield, his voice booms with that iconic “Leeroooooy Jeeeenkiiiiins!” line. When I charge an attack using him, he growls, “Time’s up! Let’s do this.” And in the unfortunate event of his demise, he quips, “At least I have chicken.
Hearthstone April Fools’ Day shenanigans
The announcement for Hearthstone’s Year of the Chicken not only includes the main reveal but also some April Fools’ Day pranks. For instance, Shudderblock will harm your opponent if you politely ask it to, Battlegrounds Duos now allows for split-screen play, and Zilliax Deluxe 3000 has been renamed to Zilliax D-UST 1600!
