Model Paulina Porizkova is grieving the loss of her friend, Mistie Savage-McGuire, who recently passed away after a battle with cancer. Porizkova became emotional while speaking about the loss of her friend of five years.
On Thursday the Vogue supermodel took to Instagram to share her heartbreak over the recent loss.
She was at home, wearing a light green floral robe and without makeup, as she appeared to be dealing with upsetting news.
Mistie was fighting a serious battle with stage four colorectal cancer that had spread from her colon to her liver and lungs. She also had heart failure and needed a pacemaker to help manage it.
‘Cancer doesn’t really care how much of a warrior you are,’ said the catwalk expert.
Her husband first shared the sad news on Instagram on Wednesday evening.
Hi everyone, it’s HBSP. I always worried this day would come, and now it’s here,” he wrote, sharing a photo of him embracing Mistie.
Mistie peacefully passed away at home this morning after a courageous fight with cancer. She was comfortable and didn’t suffer any pain.
‘She fought with style and grace, all peppered with a lot of gallows humor.
We’re so grateful to @paulinaporizkov for not only showing off Mistie, but also for becoming a true friend to her. Thanks to you, Mistie’s wonderful personality, courage, and charm were able to reach so many people online.
It’s just… the number of people Mistie helped, inspired, *touched* with her kindness… it’s endless. This is absolutely devastating, and I’m heartbroken, but honestly, thinking about everything she *created* and the good she brought into the world… that’s what I’m holding onto. I just want to say thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to everyone who loved Mistie, who supported her, and who’s been there for me and my family during this impossible time. It means more than you could possibly know.

Paulina Porizkova’s friend shared a surprisingly candid Instagram post. Despite battling terminal rectal cancer and needing to use a colostomy bag, she described herself with defiant humor, declaring she’s ‘a nobody’ who still ‘chews bubblegum & kick[s] ass’.
Okay, so I’ve been following Paulina Porizkova for a while now, and honestly, I’m always checking her posts. When I saw she was having a really rough time and posted something sad, I just *had* to reach out. I felt like I needed to let her know someone was thinking of her, you know?
Savage-McGuire explained in an interview that the person was very open and genuine, and some reacted unkindly. ‘I could really sense what she was going through,’ she said.
She also told Porizkova about her illness.
Porizkova explained that she connected with Mistie Savage-McGuire. Speaking from her home in a video interview, she said she couldn’t recall the precise wording of a message Mistie sent, but she definitely remembered the feeling behind it.
