Heartbreaking Moment: Catelynn Lowell Blocked from Seeing Daughter by Adoptive Parents!

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but feel the raw emotion that overwhelms Catelynn Lowell when she learned about the rumors of being cut off from communicating with my precious daughter, Carly, by her adoptive family. It’s a heartrending situation for any mother, and it tugs at my heartstrings knowing how much Catelynn yearns to be part of Carly’s life.

Ever since she and her husband Tyler Baltierra, both aged 32 now, made the tough decision to put their first child up for adoption as teenagers in 2009, the reality star has faced a complex relationship with the adoptive parents of her eldest child, Brandon and Teresa Davis.

In the latest installment of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter on Thursday, Lowell found herself weeping while conversing with their adoption advisor, Dawn.

After reportedly getting a text from Carly’s mother stating she wouldn’t respond anymore due to being deeply offended by some comments made by the TV personality regarding her and Brandon, Lowell reached out to Dawn.

According to MTV’s show 16 and Pregnant during its first season, the Davis family took in the newborn daughter of the Lowell and Baltierra family.

As a lifestyle consultant, I’d put it this way: Initially, Brandon and Teresa opted for an open adoption arrangement, with the understanding that they had the flexibility to switch to a closed adoption should the need arise.

Catelynn conveyed to Dawn that the adoption process currently feels incredibly restrictive, and she went on to elaborate that it was causing her Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

She stated that, since communication is now halted and there seems to be no further contact, it feels as if you’re drawing a clear boundary, or a firm line in the sand.

Baltierra added: ‘Blocking is something children do.’ 

Dawn suggested to the couple that if their opinions differ, they’ve requested space and time to cool off but it hasn’t been granted, could there be no other solution left?

At dawn, the pair was subtly reminded by their friend that their considerable influence on social media platforms was noteworthy.

She stated that when content is shared on a public forum like social media, people often create their own stories or narratives about it. This can lead to pain and distress, especially when one’s personal life is exposed online.

Catelynn made it clear to Dawn that, should Carly decide to cut off communication, she would completely withdraw from the situation.

This prompted Dawn to ask if it was ‘fair’ to ‘put that kind of pressure on a young teenager.’ 

Catelynn firmly declared, “Regardless of whether it’s due to Brandon and Teresa’s fears or insecurities, their reluctance to maintain contact as she grows older, or any other reason, I am determined not to cease my efforts to reach out. I will continue to send her gifts, Dawn, I will persist.

At dawn, Lowell was warned by her that she was potentially placing her biological daughter in a rather challenging situation, which might seem akin to a heated game of rope-pulling.

‘Sometimes we have to take a step back,’ Dawn advised. 

Lowell countered: “That’s not equitable, Dawn… You didn’t have to hand over a child to someone forever, and it’s simply not fair.

Baltierra stated that he intends to step back and wait for events to unfold, as he won’t be the one initiating anything in this situation.

Prior to the airing of the season opener a month ago, Lowell revealed to TooFab that they have yet to unblock Carly.

She shared that there has been no change in the situation. We remain stuck, and unfortunately, I am still unable to reach them, regardless of my desire to do so. Consequently, yes, things are just as they were before.

The author mentioned that they have shifted their focus towards promoting adoption and advocating for adoptees. Essentially, they want more adoptees to share their stories and experiences, including what support might have benefited them.

Additionally, Lowell proposed that the reality show might have made Carly’s adopted parents feel responsible in some way, or there was a possibility that they had lost touch with her for a prolonged period.

Well, let me tell you, I’m absolutely convinced of this: when a natural parent opts for an open adoption, it’s common for such arrangements to shut down within the initial five years, not because the birth parents choose it, but more often than not, it’s the adoptive parents who make that decision.

2023 saw a reunion between Lowell, Baltierra, and Carly, who gained popularity through the successful spin-off series of 16 And Pregnant, as they enjoyed some precious moments spent together.

Additionally, the trio of their youngest daughters – Rya (3½ years old), Vaeda (who will turn 6 this month), and Novalee (10 years old) – also attended.

At that moment, Lowell posted a monochrome picture of everyone, along with a heartfelt message expressing his affection for Carly.

‘She’s funny, kind, SMART, goofy, and STUNNING,’ the proud mom wrote on Instagram.

In the photo, the family is seen walking hand-in-hand away from the direction of the camera.

Tyler cradled Vaeda, while Carly held Rya; meanwhile, Catelynn gazed lovingly at her entire family.

Afterward, Catelynn elaborated on the process of placing Carly up for adoption, emphasizing the tremendous challenge that decision posed for her.

She expressed that adoption can be challenging, and repeatedly parting ways is incredibly tough for her. Yet, witnessing all our girls united, developing a closer bond with Carly, and spending time with all four of our adopted daughters is an indescribable blessing.

At the end of her caption, she also added the hashtags: ‘#adoption #loveyou #mygirls’.

In the comments section, Tyler continued the love for Carly and their family.

Wow,” said the online persona. “Being surrounded by all these lovely women is beyond words. The level of genuine, heartfelt affection is intense, teetering on the edge of being too much at moments.

He then expressed his agreement on Carly’s attributes and praised her as well.

He enthusiastically remarked, “She’s incredibly intelligent, compassionate, and has a knack for being hilarious – her giggle is contagious! Her upbringing by her parents is truly commendable!

Watching her play with her sisters is like being enchanted by a scene straight out of a fairy tale, filled with harmonious laughter bouncing off the walls and heartwarming hugs in abundance! Their bond seems beyond ordinary, woven through invisible threads that stretch far beyond simple familial ties. He went on to say it’s almost transcendental magic, something so beautiful and profound that time seemed to stand still. He never wanted this moment of pure enchantment to end.

Afterward, Tyler commended Catelynn for being ‘one of the strongest women I will encounter’ and ‘an exceptional mother.’

He also said, “You are incredibly brave, caring, insightful, and perceptive.” And let me tell you, our family feels incredibly fortunate to have you as the graceful leader among us.

In 2021, Carly’s parents joyfully reunited with her for her 12th birthday party, marking two years since their last encounter.

Previously on their MTV show, they discussed the challenges of placing her up for adoption, nurturing a bond with Carly, and showing appreciation towards her adoptive parents.
