The Marvel Cinematic Universe is always growing, with new movies and shows on Disney+. Fans who’ve followed the films for years know Marvel is famously secretive, even among its actors. Remember how Andrew Garfield pretended he wasn’t in *Spider-Man: No Way Home*? Well, Emma Stone has now shared her reaction to being misled by him too – talk about a chilly response!
There have been a ton ofSpider-Man movies over the years, with Garfield and Stone starring in the two Amazing Spider-Man films. While appearing on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Stone was asked about her co-star’s famous fibs, offering:
I asked him if he was involved, and he pretended he had no idea what I was talking about. I thought that meant he wasn’t, but I later found out he was! He’d been keeping it a secret.
Andrew Garfield is dedicated to his work. Even though he and Emma Stone are still close, he kept his involvement in *No Way Home* a secret from her. She didn’t find out he was part of the film – and that three Spider-Men would be appearing – until the movie was released. This shows just how committed the *Social Network* actor is to keeping secrets when necessary.

Disney+ offers streaming access to Marvel Cinematic Universe and Spider-Man movies and shows. You can subscribe for as little as $9.99 per month with ads (price increases to $11.99/month on October 21, 2025). An ad-free plan costs $15.99 a month (increasing to $18.99/month on October 21, 2025), or you can save 16% by paying $159.99 for a full year. See the deal here.
Audiences went wild when Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire appeared in *No Way Home*, and the film studio’s strict secrecy is a major reason why so few details leaked beforehand. Later in the interview, Stone was asked about her character, Gwen Stacy, being remembered in the movie, particularly how Garfield’s Peter Parker saved MJ in a way he couldn’t in *The Amazing Spider-Man 2*. When asked if she had watched the film, she replied:
I haven’t seen it yet, but I’ve heard great things! It sounds like it’s quite moving, and I definitely plan to watch it sometime soon.
It’s good she’s being upfront about it. Stone says she plans to watch *Spider-Man: No Way Home* eventually, but hasn’t had the opportunity yet. She might be holding out for it to become available on Disney+, which it isn’t currently. Regardless, she seems curious to see how the film acknowledges the *Amazing Spider-Man* series.

With Garfield and Maguire both reprising their roles as Spider-Man, fans are wondering if they’ll be in future Marvel movies, especially the next two *Avengers* films which are expected to explore the multiverse. Andrew Garfield has hinted at a possible return, but hasn’t been officially confirmed as part of the cast for the upcoming film.
We’ll find out everything when *Avengers: Doomsday* comes out in theaters on December 18th of next year, as part of the 2026 movie lineup. *Secret Wars* will follow on December 17th, 2027. Hopefully, we’ll see Tobey Maguire (Garfield) appear in at least one of these films.
