HBO star reveals why he has ‘no hair and no eyebrows’: ‘I know I look weird’

Comedian Jeff Hiller, known for his acting roles, recently disclosed the reason behind his bald head and missing eyebrows, saying candidly, “I understand I might appear unusual.

In a notable rise, the 48-year-old character gained significant popularity as the cherished sidekick in the HBO show titled Somebody Somewhere, featuring Bridget Everett.

Showcasing his versatility, he took on the malevolent character of a serial killer who preyed upon gay men in the series American Horror Story: NYC, during the year 2022.

Currently, he has released a fresh autobiography titled “Actress At a Specific Stage,” featuring an entire chapter delving into the topic of his hairstyle.

He revealed that he has frontal fibrosing alopecia, a condition predominantly affecting postmenopausal women, which may lead to the thinning or complete loss of eyebrows, as well as a receding hairline at the front and sides of his head.

Jeff explained on People how he discovered that particular chapter to be the most challenging to compose, and also expressed his surprise at the reactions it received.

In the same section, he discussed developing areas of abnormal, darkened skin due to morphea, which is another term for localized scleroderma.

Despite his intention to add a chapter focusing on ‘morphea, which involves loss of hair or eyebrows’, he was surprised by the responses he received.

I found it surprising that nobody has commented on how bold it was of me to write this, when I expected everyone to react with something like ‘Wow, you’re so brave!'” He shared his thoughts.

Additionally, Jeff mentioned that even his editor suggested the possibility of excluding the chapter from the book, which was released for public consumption on Tuesday.

The original speaker from San Antonio expressed that when he initially revealed his sexuality, it was crucial for him to make it clear that he was gay. This wasn’t due to a belief that others were unaware, but rather because he felt they might have been uncertain if he himself knew about his own identity.

I suspect I feel like telling you: ‘I understand that I may seem odd to you, I’ve noticed you’ve looked me up online, I’ve consulted with hair and makeup professionals about this, just so you know, I’m aware of it too. So if you’re gossiping about me, I’m on to it.’

He acknowledged that putting together that specific chapter was particularly challenging for him, yet he pointed out this intriguing observation: “People often feel uneasy when you express self-doubt about your attractiveness. However, it’s worth noting that my self-worth isn’t primarily tied to physical appearance.

Jeff noted: ‘I’m not a famous, attractive actor who requires attractiveness for my next part. Therefore, it’s not a major issue. I acknowledge that my hair might seem odd.’

Additionally, the memoir delves into recollections of Jeff’s childhood years spent in Texas, a time when he was often bullied due to his sexual orientation.

He discovered that section was ‘unexpectedly challenging’ to navigate, expressing: ‘I granted myself some leniency by documenting it, and I hold much empathy for my past self.’

Jeff went on to say: “When I recall my younger self, chubby and sporting a perm my mother styled in the kitchen, it brings forth a great deal of empathy from me.

Nevertheless, not every aspect of his life was included in the book, and he chose to omit certain details that I felt might have been somewhat excessive, he joked playfully.
