HBO Max Unveils 8 Exciting New DC Superhero Releases for June 2025!

Beginning in June 2025, eight new DC projects will be introduced to HBO Max’s streaming platform, with a significant number of these focusing on or featuring Superman. Notably, HBO Max has reverted back to its original name following a change to “Max” in 2023. This popular streaming service is renowned for its extensive collection of DC content, housing films from the DCEU, series like Batman: The Animated Series, and additional offerings.

It’s plausible that the upcoming projects have such a focus on Superman because the new film directed by James Gunn, titled Superman, is scheduled for release around July 11, 2025, approximately one month prior. This could be the reason why these upcoming projects heavily emphasize the character of the Man of Steel.

Every DC Project Coming to HBO Max in June 2025

Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons

The 2022 animated movie, titled “Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons,” predominantly focuses on characters Clark Kent (Superman), Bruce Wayne (Batman), Jon Kent, and Damian Wayne.

In the movie, Clark and Lois give birth to a boy named Jon, who eventually discovers his supernatural abilities. Meanwhile, in Gotham, Bruce’s offspring, Damian, takes on the role of Robin. When members of both the Justice League and the Teen Titans are overtaken by some unknown force, Superman, Batman, and their sons must team up to save the day.

Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons will be added to HBO Max on June 1, 2025.

Reign of the Supermen

The movie titled “Reign of the Supermen” was released in 2019 and serves as a direct continuation of “The Death of Superman“. In the earlier film, Superman (Clark Kent) meets his demise while battling Doomsday. Consequently, the narrative from there unfolds in “Reign of the Supermen“.

In Metropolis, several individuals with Superman-like abilities have appeared, prompting Lex Luthor to develop a being similar to the Man of Steel.

Reign of the Supermen will be added to HBO Max on June 1, 2025.

Superman: Man of Tomorrow

The 2020 animated movie titled “Superman: Man of Tomorrow” serves as the debut film for the second phase of the DC Animated Movie Universe.

As a passionate cinephile, I must say that this film takes us on a captivating journey through the initial stages of Superman’s tenure as the guardian of Metropolis. Interestingly, he is initially known as “The Flying Man,” a title that he earns throughout the movie as he demonstrates his heroic prowess.

Superman: Man of Tomorrow will be added to HBO Max on June 1, 2025.

Superman: Red Son

As a movie enthusiast, let me tell you about my recent watch: “Superman: Red Son,” an animated take on Superman, which graced our screens in 2020. This film is an adaptation from a comic book miniseries with the same title, published back in 2003.

In essence, “Superman: Red Son” can be compared to the DC Comics’ spin-off of Marvel’s “What If…?”. Instead of landing in Kansas, Clark Kent is diverted from Krypton and ends up in Ukraine. Subsequently, he is discovered by Soviet authorities who mold him into a powerful asset rather than the iconic superhero we know.

In an even more bizarre turn of events, Dwight D. Eisenhower (president during the same era as Red Son is set) assigns Lex Luthor with the mission to take out Superman.

Superman: Red Son will be added to HBO Max on June 1, 2025.

Superman: Unbound

The animated movie titled “Superman: Unbound” first hit screens back in 2013, making it the seventeenth production to join the collection known as the DC Universe Animated Original Movies.

The movie, titled “Superman: Unbound,” adapts the comic book storyline “Superman vs. Brainiac” written by Geoff Johns. In this film, Superman confronts Brainiac in a direct battle. Interestingly, Brainiac is involved in a surprising turn of events at the end of the movie’s closing credits.

Superman: Unbound will be added to HBO Max on June 1, 2025.

Superman/Batman: Public Enemies

The 2009 animated film, titled “Superman/Batman: Public Enemies“, is highly appreciated by many DC comics fans. Not only does it belong to the DC Universe Animated Original Movies series with six installments, but it also features Tim Daly, Kevin Conroy, Clancy Brown, and CCH Pounder reprising their roles from the DC Animated Universe as Superman, Batman, Lex Luthor, and Amanda Waller respectively.

In the movie, Lex Luthor assumes the role of U.S. President amidst a severe economic recession. Predictably, matters worsen, leading to intervention by both Batman and Superman.

Superman/Batman: Public Enemies will be added to HBO Max on June 1, 2025.

The Death of Superman

It’s worth noting that “The Death of Superman” serves as a precursor to “Reign of the Supermen“. Both of these exciting titles are set to join HBO Max’s lineup in June.

In 2018, “The Death of Superman” was unveiled, representing a faithful portrayal of the comic book series with the same title. This movie revolves around Superman’s struggle to safeguard Earth from Doomsday, leading ultimately to his demise, and a triumph for Lex Luthor.

The Death of Superman will be added to HBO Max on June 1, 2025.

Teen Titans Go!, Season 9B

In simple terms, the second half of “Teen Titans Go!” Season 9 will debut on HBO Max on June 20, 2025. However, it’s worth noting that among all DC projects, this is the one that won’t be available on the platform on June 1.

As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled to share that though Teen Titans Go! Season 9 kicked off earlier, it’s currently taking a break. But don’t worry, the second half is just around the corner! Mark your calendars for June 20th, as we’ll be able to continue our adventures on HBO Max then.
