As a gamer who has traversed the post-apocalyptic world of The Last of Us multiple times, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming season 2! The sneak peek we got recently was tantalizingly brief yet full of intrigue.

The anticipation is almost at an end, since it has been revealed that “The Last of Us” season 2 is set to premiere on MAX in the upcoming year. To make matters even better, a sneak peek of what’s in store has been shared, albeit briefly, and it certainly gives us some hints!

In the gripping finale of “The Last of Us” season 1, I found myself in a heart-wrenching dilemma, much like Joel (played brilliantly by Pedro Pascal). Faced with the choice between sparing Ellie (an exceptional performance by Bella Ramsey) or potentially saving humanity, Joel opted for the former. However, as it was revealed that Ellie wouldn’t survive the surgery crucial to finding a cure, Joel felt compelled to essentially wipe out The Fireflies, led by Marlene, a move that I couldn’t help but question.

The execution, acting, and filming were skillfully done in this gruesome event. Concerned about Ellie’s response to the reality, Joel chose to conceal it from her, yet she appears rather unconvinced about the truth.

As we transition into Season 2, it’s likely that a few years have gone by, and it seems inevitable that Joel’s hidden truth will surface. In a recent preview, Catherine O’Hara, portraying an unnamed character at the moment, probes Joel about Ellie, which appears to be a subtle reference to his secret.

As a gamer, let me tell you about Joel – he’s tough as nails and always keeps his feelings hidden, but there’s a softness that occasionally slips through. After all, who could forget the tragic loss of my daughter Sarah on the day the world turned upside down, my birthday no less? That night, I made a promise to protect others, and it seems I’ve done just that. But will the telltale glisten in my eyes betray the truth of my emotions, hidden beneath my stoic facade?

In his journey to deliver Ellie to The Fireflies due to her supposed immunity, he found himself in more trouble than anticipated, ultimately reverting back to his original self. Deep beneath his tough facade lay a man who had suffered immense loss but retained the capacity to love and care for others as tenderly as any father would.

As a gamer, I develop a deep bond with Ellie, shielding her like she’s family. I’d choose her over anything, even mankind itself. Yet, this devotion might claim my life and possibly endanger others too.

As I caught a glimpse of the upcoming content, there I was, gazing at Ellie with a fresh tattoo marking her infection scar – could it be the aftermath of an incident in Jackson City? My brother Tommy seems to be on high alert too, gun in hand. New faces emerged as well, like Dina and, most notably, Abby – a person who, even Joel himself might not expect.

Will she manage to exact her vengeance? Here’s a glimpse at what lies ahead for Joel, Ellie, Tommy, and the whole of Jackson City.
