In November 2025, some original shows and movies will be taken off of HBO Max. It’s common for streaming services to add and remove content as they renew agreements with studios. Usually, originals are meant to stay on a streaming service forever because the company owns them. But recently, companies like Disney and HBO have started removing their own shows and movies from their platforms.
HBO Max, part of Warner Bros. Discovery, is famous for its popular original series and movies like Peacemaker, The Last of Us, and House of the Dragon, as well as critically acclaimed shows like The White Lotus and Task. Generally, these shows stay exclusively on HBO to attract and keep subscribers. However, some original content has been removed from HBO Max over time, either being cancelled completely or licensed to other streaming services. Warner Bros. Discovery executive Gunnar Wiedenfels described these removals as a way to “correct an overabundance of content.”
Starting in November, some movies and shows will be leaving HBO Max in the U.S., which is typical for streaming services. In addition to these licensed titles, HBO Max is also removing a few of its own original shows, and it’s currently unknown where or when viewers will be able to watch them again.

Arthur’s Law

Okay, so I just finished watching “Arthur’s Law,” and it’s… something. This German series is a really dark comedy, and honestly, it’s pretty twisted. It centers around Arthur Ahnepol, a guy who’s out of work and, let’s just say, really doesn’t like his wife. He starts down a path where he wishes her harm, and things spiral out of control in the most unlucky and hilarious (though definitely dark) ways possible. It’s not for everyone, but if you like your comedies with a heavy dose of misfortune, this one might be up your alley.
As a big fan of international thrillers, I was really excited when HBO Max got the exclusive rights to stream Arthur’s Law here in the US back in 2021, thanks to a deal with WarnerMedia Germany. But sadly, it looks like that’s ending – as of November 30th, the show will be leaving the platform.
4 Blocks

HBO Max is removing two international series, 4 Blocks and Arthur’s Law, from its platform on November 30th. Both shows were part of a collection of curated international programming.
The show centers on Toni, a drug cartel boss who’s trying to escape his criminal past. However, when his brother-in-law is arrested, Toni is compelled to return to his old ways and make significant plans to deal with the situation.
Through Our Eyes

HBO Max has added the four-part documentary series Through Our Eyes to its streaming lineup in the U.S., but it will only be available to watch until November 11th.
This special documentary explores tough issues – such as when parents are in jail, families are forced to leave their homes due to climate change, and people experience homelessness – all from a child’s perspective. Created by the team behind Sesame Street, it’s designed to be watched with parents and children together to encourage conversation.
Magnifica 70

Magnifica 70 is a Brazilian drama that tells the story of a government censor who develops a romantic relationship with the lead actor in a provocative film during the 1970s. The show ran for three seasons and received an International Emmy Award nomination.
The Brazilian series Magnifica 70, originally produced by HBO Brasil, is being removed from HBO Max in the U.S. after November 6th. It was distributed internationally through HBO Max.
