As a die-hard Potterhead, I’m thrilled to share that HBO has unveiled the talented individuals who will bring our beloved trio – Harry, Ron, and Hermione – to life in their eagerly awaited new Harry Potter TV series.

In this upcoming adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s cherished characters, we will see Dominic McLaughlin portray Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton take on Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout play Ron Weasley. The studio revealed that a staggering 30,000 actors vied for the lead roles. Showrunner Francesca Gardiner and executive producer and director Mark Mylod expressed their joy in a statement, “Following an exceptional search spearheaded by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are thrilled to reveal our Harry, Hermione, and Ron. The raw talent of these three individual actors is truly captivating, and we can’t wait for audiences to experience their enchantment on screen. We’d like to express our gratitude to the countless children who auditioned. It has been a delightful journey to uncover the wealth of young talent out there.” The cast also boasts notable figures such as John Lithgow as Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Snape, and Nick Frost as Hagrid.

The shooting for this series is tentatively scheduled to start around summer 2025 at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the United Kingdom. Though an exact release date hasn’t been announced yet, the plan is for it to debut on HBO Max as soon as 2026, with some speculation pointing towards a delay into 2027. This ambitious production seeks to delve deeper into the storylines of the books than the initial movie series did.
