In the realm of Star Wars, Hayden Christensen has had quite an extensive experience. Known for portraying Anakin Skywalker and later Darth Vader, he demonstrated his versatility by taking on the roles of a Jedi Knight and a Sith Lord in the prequel trilogy. More recently, he reprised these iconic roles in both “Obi-Wan Kenobi” and “Ahsoka.

At the Star Wars Celebration, it was confirmed that actor Christensen will once again take on the role of Ahsoka Tano’s former Master for season 2. Currently, he is filming these scenes while also making convention appearances. While the specifics of his role in season 2 are still unclear, Christensen is already contemplating his continued involvement in the Star Wars universe.
The actor (Christensen) shares his hope for additional Star Wars tales that would provide significant roles for him. At Fan Expo Boston, as reported by Collider, he spoke alongside his co-star, Ewan McGregor. He expressed interest in potential future Star Wars stories, particularly two projects: a live-action series based during the Clone Wars era, and a standalone Darth Vader project.
Regarding the Clone Wars series, he expressed his desire to explore more Anakin from that era as well. He believes there are some entertaining tales yet to be told in that timeframe, and if it allowed him to duel with Ewan using a lightsaber once more, that would be fantastic.
Fans got a sneak peek at the live-action depiction of the Clone Wars in the fifth episode of Ahsoka, titled “Shadow Warrior”. This segment featured Ahsoka Tano’s journey into the World Between Worlds, where she was transported to her past during the Clone Wars as a child soldier. The hazy ambiance, presence of Clone Troopers, and Master Skywalker in battle armor from the Clone Wars era were noteworthy aspects of this sequence. This was an exciting moment for fans, though they couldn’t help but miss the appearance of Anakin Skywalker’s mentor, Obi-Wan Kenobi.
In “Star Wars,” we’ve witnessed Hayden and Ewan square off in “Episode III: Revenge of the Sith” and “Obi-Wan Kenobi.” However, there’s a unique charm in seeing them fight together. The animated series, “The Clone Wars,” is cherished by fans for shedding light on the evolving bond between Anakin and Obi-Wan. Following his promotion to a Jedi Knight, their friendship deepened significantly, eventually blossoming into a strong camaraderie.
In live-action, we didn’t witness much of their unique bond between Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen. However, their off-screen camaraderie could have made for an interesting dynamic on screen. While a Clone Wars series is something Christensen is interested in, he also desires to delve deeper into the dark side by reprising his role as Vader in a spinoff. He shares his enthusiasm, “I’d love to explore more of Darth Vader’s timeline… I believe there’s still a lot of substantial material to be mined there.
Christensen made it evident that he is keen on delving deeper into the character in both time periods, providing ample material should a series be established during the Clone Wars or under the Empire’s rule. Witnessing events through Vader’s perspective would offer a harrowing and intense account, yet could prove insightful if skillfully executed. Although Anakin constantly battled his feelings as a Jedi, Vader’s emotional turmoil persisted, haunted especially by the memories of his late wife, Padme Amidala.
Ahsoka and Obi-Wan Kenobi are streaming on Disney+.
