Vancouver-based fashion store HAVEN has collaborated with Japanese footwear company REGAL Shoe & Co to revamp their Tyrolean moc-toe design, incorporating practical modifications for all-weather conditions and longevity. The shoe will be available in sleek Black and Clay leather versions. The design is not only robust but also stylish, featuring a GORE-TEX coating, Vibram MegaGrip soles, and Goodyear welt construction for added durability.
The uppers of these shoes are crafted at REGAL Shoe & Co.’s main factory in Kashiwa, Chiba. They utilize a blend of smooth, shrink, and suede leathers for depth and unique character, with each component highlighted differently. Smooth leather makes up the majority of the shoe’s body, while suede is used on the collar, featuring a small GORE-TEX tag, and textured shrink leather adorns the heel counter. Lastly, the leather mudguard provides extra structure and shields against inclement weather.
The sleek shape stands out against rugged Vibram soles, giving extra height to the design while ensuring strong grip and traction. REGAL Shoe & Co., pioneers of Goodyear welt construction in Japan, utilize this technique within the Tyrolean soles, enabling future resoling. This method, unlike glued alternatives, preserves the shoe’s quality as alterations are made. For a solid base, the upper, insole, and welt are tightly stitched together, while a cork filler is inserted between the insole and outsole for customized comfort.
On May 30, starting at 10 AM Pacific Standard Time, the HAVEN webstore and physical retail locations will stock the Tyrolean GORE-TEX shoes from HAVEN x Regal Shoe & Co., available in both Black and Clay colorways.
