Have Dan Ewing and Katrina Risteska split? Home and Away star stops posting about fiancée on social media before undergoing huge transformation after ‘hitting absolute rock bottom’ – as actress ‘moves out of family home’

Dan Ewing and fiancée Katrina Risteska have sparked rumours they may have split. 

It appears that the pair, both parents of two-year-old Nevaeh Catherine, haven’t been posting or interacting much on their social media platforms for about a year now.

According to a source, it’s possible that Katrina, aged 34, has left the shared family home in Brisbane, which she and her partner previously purchased more than two years back, as reported by Daily Mail Australia.

As reported by a reliable source, Dan, aged 40, and Katrina were the owners of a residential property situated in Lota, Queensland, which is a secure neighborhood located on the outskirts of Brisbane’s eastern suburbs.

The home last sold for $580,000 in 2022, as shown on realestate.com.au, presumably to the couple.

It appears that Katrina might not reside at the family home anymore, since she posted a sponsored video in April, which indicated that she was living elsewhere.

In a different wording: Katrina demonstrated a power washer in an advertisement, utilizing it to tidy up the rear porch of her present home.

However, there were notable differences between the Lota home and the building she was washing.

In contrast, her personal residence boasts a purely white frontage and a concreted terrace, whereas the dwelling that Katrina cleaned in the video showcased a red-brick exterior and a timber balcony instead.

Besides fueling speculations about their relationship, Dan and Katrina seem to have stopped sharing posts about each other on their social media platforms. Moreover, it appears that the actor underwent a significant physical change following what seemed like a difficult period at the close of 2024, when he reportedly reached his lowest point.

Last Mother’s Day, I took to my Instagram to pay tribute to my beloved partner, Katrina, by sharing a heartwarming photo of us together.

The monochrome snapshot depicted Katrina and her daughter, Nevaeh, creating bubbles together, while Dan wrote affectionate sentiments about them both.

I don’t have the words to fully express my feelings, but let me try… The highest praise I can offer to my ‘goddess of salted caramel’ is this,” he started.

‘(Clears throat) You’re a Fkn… MIL… Ok… no… FOCUS… (Clears throat again),’ he continued.

I am incredibly thankful that our daughter not only shares a strong resemblance with her loving and compassionate mother, but she has also inherited her empathy, intellect, kindness – and an abundance of spirit! (I can’t help but add that she possesses quite the spirit too!)

I was utterly thrilled at the prospect of having one of you, and now I’m doubly blessed with two! Every day, I express my gratitude to God for this gift. Happy Mother’s Day!

It seems that Dan, the father of 10-year-old Archie (who he shares with his former wife Marni Little), hasn’t mentioned Katrina or Nevaeh on social media at all in this current year.

Similarly, Katrina, who typically doesn’t post much even under normal circumstances, hasn’t posted anything that includes Dan since her 33rd birthday in January.

Although they both continue to follow one another on Instagram, it appears that they’ve ceased engaging or reacting to each other’s posts.

Instead, some of their more recent uploads contain words of inspiration. 

At the start of January, Dan penned a heartfelt note to his cherished friends, expressing: “You are deeply loved, and I am profoundly thankful for each one of you!

2024, your love and backing have been priceless, making me feel valued beyond description. You’ve left an indelible mark on my life that will last a lifetime. It’s all thanks to you that I’m able to maintain sobriety today.

Earlier this month, Dan openly shared with his audience about his struggles from the previous year, stating he had slipped into a state of depression and alcoholism. Since then, he has chosen to abstain from alcohol.

He went on to say, ‘You’re absolutely flawless in every aspect, though it sometimes takes those around you quite some time to realize just how divine a blessing you truly are.’

‘I wish you nothing but success at the level you dream of and I know will achieve.’

He concluded, saying, “Though we won’t meet physically, I have faith that you are capable of more than you think.

Dan overlaid the post with an instrumental song by Parijat called Healing the Heart. 

This year, Katrina celebrated her 34th birthday in January without Dan by her side, and she recently posted something inspiring a few weeks prior.

She posted a monochrome clip featuring herself along with her child, Nevaeh, frolicking on the sandy shore under a bright, sunlit sky.

Prior to the birth of Nev, I had a reading conducted and the woman predicted, “In the future, I foresee you on the beach with your daughter. She will be your dearest companion, bringing you immense joy and tranquility.

She didn’t know I was pregnant or that it was a girl when this happened, but something she said has been replaying in my thoughts continuously since then.

As I was crafting this video, I wasn’t sure what words to use for the caption. All I knew was that the moment felt incredibly valuable and my heart was overflowing with gratitude… It turns out, this very instant is precisely that.

Sharing my observations, I’ve noticed some significant changes in Dan, which lead me to believe he might have gone through a transformative journey regarding his health and personal habits. He appears to have tackled a challenging struggle with alcohol, an aspect of his life he has chosen to open up about.

Dan left fans astonished with a surprising before-and-after post as he celebrated his 40th birthday recently.

He posted two photos on social media, both taken in the bathroom without a shirt, to highlight the significant change he’s undergone during the last year.

Initially, Dan appeared rather dejected, flaunting an overly full belly in the earlier image. However, a photograph taken a year later displayed a noticeably more toned Dan with a much more vibrant mood.

He titled the gallery with some meaningful phrases: ‘This represents forty. Yet, it’s crucial to highlight that the second picture was at age thirty-nine.’

Today marks a year since I found myself struggling, overwhelmed by emotional pain and drowning in alcohol. Life was merely an existence, devoid of joy or purpose. Yet, I can only express my wish that one year ago today, I mustered the strength to transform my circumstances.

Dan then opened up about how he turned his life around in the space of six months.

2024 saw him reach an all-time low, right at its end. It was then that the universe seemed to intervene, taking control from him.

‘From that rock-bottom came the decision to get sober – and that one choice changed everything.’

He went on to say that it grew into a more profound self-love, leading him to a genuine bond with the divine – be it God, the universe, or any other name given to the sacred, potent energy that connects us all.

He added his good fortune had significantly improved after he gave up alcohol.

He penned that nothing would have transpired if not for the tough initial choice. It was when he sought assistance, he stated.”

“The first challenging decision led to everything; it was his plea for help that he mentioned.

‘Abstinence didn’t simply change my life; it enabled me to be present wholeheartedly – for my loved ones, acquaintances, and everyone I meet. It allows me to fulfill my purpose as intended.’

Dan, having departed from Home and Away as a regular character back in 2014, has consistently shared with fans about the challenges he faced in his past.

2021 saw him disclose that he had been dealing with anxiety following his entry into the well-known soap opera in 2007, where he portrayed Heath Braxton, a character from the River Boys surfing clan. To manage this new fame, he admitted to using alcohol as a means of coping.

During a conversation on the ImperfectlyPerfect Podcast, the performer shared that navigating sudden fame was tough for him.

He found it tough. Being a young talent from the Northern Beaches, suddenly catapulted into stardom on Australia’s most popular TV series, Home and Away, was more than he had prepared for.

At that point in time, my companion Marni wasn’t prepared, and I hadn’t realized it then, but I was actually going through a lot of anxiety.

In late 2015, following their three-year union, Dan admitted that he resorted to drinking as a means to deal with his emotions and struggles, having parted ways with Marni at that time.

He said that on weekends, he would drink a lot of alcohol very quickly, getting extremely drunk as a result.

‘You disguise it as, “Oh, it’s blowing off steam. We all do it,” and we all have done it. 

‘But for me, I just didn’t understand that there was a better way, there was a better process.’

Dan acknowledged that it wasn’t beneficial for a strong relationship, a fulfilling marriage, or a satisfying way of life, despite his professional success.
