Harvey Weinstein reveals how he feels about Adrien Brody playing dad to his and ex-wife Georgina Chapman’s kids

Harvey Weinstein, the former film producer, has shared his reaction to Adrien Brody becoming a father figure to his children with his ex-wife, Georgina Chapman.

Harvey Weinstein, age 73, is currently in jail at Rikers Island in New York, serving a 16-year sentence for sex crimes he was convicted of in California in 2022.

After allegations of sexual harassment and abuse against Harvey Weinstein came to light in a New York Times report in 2017, Chapman, then 49, ended their 10-year marriage and separated from him.

The former couple, who officially divorced in 2021, have two children: a 15-year-old daughter named India Pearl and a 12-year-old son named Dashiell Max Robert.

Chapman started dating Oscar-winning actor Brody, now 52, in 2019. Since then, he’s become a father figure to her children, while their father, Weinstein, is in prison.

Last year, during his Best Actor acceptance speech at the Oscars, Joaquin Phoenix surprised everyone by sharing that his son Dashiell and partner India call him ‘Popsy’.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Weinstein stated he’s pleased that Brody is supporting his children.

Weinstein responded to a question about Brody mentioning his children during the Oscars by saying he was pleased. He explained he was happy that his kids had positive figures in their lives.

‘And Georgina suffered terribly because of me. I’m glad she’s finally found some happiness.’

Although Chapman and Weinstein are no longer speaking to each other, Chapman says Weinstein still lets him visit their children.

Weinstein also discussed how allegations against him nearly a decade ago led to what he described as Hollywood ‘punishing’ Chapman and her fashion brand, Marchesa.

After their divorce, many famous actresses who used to wear his ex-wife’s clothes – she’d styled them beautifully for years – stopped using her designs.

‘I am sorry she got such a bad rap,’ Weinstein said. ‘She knew nothing about what I was doing.

‘I was a master of deception. To punish her company is an act of insanity.’

Weinstein has discussed Brody’s relationship with Chapman and Brody’s role in his children’s lives before.

Following Brody’s speech at the Oscars last year, Harvey Weinstein’s representative, Juda Engelmayer, gave a statement to the Daily Mail.

When accepting the Best Actor award for his role in Brutalist at the 2025 ceremony, Brody publicly thanked his girlfriend, Chapman, and her two children from a previous relationship with Weinstein.

I want to share this moment with my incredible partner, Georgina, who has helped me rediscover my self-worth and strengthened my beliefs. I also want to include her wonderful children, Dash and India.

He shared that his children affectionately call him ‘Popsy,’ and concluded with a hopeful message: ‘It’s been a difficult journey, but thank you for being in my life, and I’m returning home with my head held high.’

Responding to a request for comment, Harvey Weinstein’s spokesperson, Engelmayer, told the Daily Mail that Weinstein is pleased for Georgina and thankful his children are receiving the love and care they need.

Harvey Weinstein was once a powerful figure in Hollywood, but in 2017, reports of sexual misconduct allegations against him led to him becoming a symbol of the issue.

Around sixty women accused the producer of serious sexual offenses, and he was found guilty of multiple crimes in both New York and California.

Weinstein has denied that he raped or sexually assaulted anyone. 

He’s currently in prison, serving a 16-year sentence for a rape conviction in California. He also faces another trial in Manhattan later this year regarding a separate rape charge stemming from a 2025 New York retrial.

Harvey Weinstein is facing a number of serious health issues, including cancer, diabetes, a spinal condition, and potential problems with his immune system.

According to a Page Six source, before she met Brody in 2019, Chapman was going through a very difficult time after her divorce from Weinstein.

She first met Brody in April 2019 at a party held at the Dorado Beach Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Puerto Rico. Friends had encouraged her to attend, hoping she would socialize after spending time at home following the allegations against Harvey Weinstein.

The duo hit it off and officially began dating just months later. 

According to a Page Six source, after more than five years together, Chapman and Brody have consistently supported each other, both during good times and bad.

They also noted that Chapman’s connection with Brody is significantly different from her past relationship with Weinstein. They described Chapman and Adrien as feeling like true partners.
