Harvey Weinstein moans Gwyneth Paltrow made ‘a big deal over nothing’ after he asked her for massage

Harvey Weinstein remains resentful towards Gwyneth Paltrow, still upset that her accusations played a role in his fall from power and the subsequent widespread changes in how sexual misconduct is addressed.

Gwyneth Paltrow claims that when she was 22, Harvey Weinstein asked her for a massage after a meeting at the Beverly Hills Hotel. She refused his request and later confided in her boyfriend at the time, Brad Pitt, who then confronted Weinstein about it at a public event.

The famous actress was among many women who publicly accused Harvey Weinstein of misconduct in 2017. These accusations were a key part of the rise of the Me Too movement, which brought attention to and opposed sexual harassment in professional settings.

Around 60 women accused Harvey Weinstein of serious sexual misconduct. He was previously found guilty of sex crimes in New York and California, but those convictions are now being challenged. He’s currently on trial again because a court determined his first New York trial wasn’t fair due to problematic testimony, leading to the original conviction being overturned.

Even though it’s been nearly a decade since the scandal came to light, Paltrow’s involvement still affects him while he’s in prison.

Speaking from Rikers Island jail, the filmmaker told The Hollywood Reporter that Gwyneth Paltrow’s accusations were particularly painful because they came from someone he considered a close friend, and who he believes he helped launch her career.

He said he couldn’t understand why she reacted the way she did, feeling she’d overreacted to a minor issue. He’d been in a pleasant meeting with her when he casually suggested getting a massage.

She clearly wasn’t interested, and I understood that. I always made sure to respect her boundaries. She later told Brad Pitt about the situation, and he warned me to stay away. I assured him I understood, but then Gwyneth publicly discussed it on Howard Stern, making a bigger issue out of it than it needed to be.

She understands that nothing actually happened, but it still hurts deeply. A former friend, someone whose career I helped build, betrayed my trust. She clearly prioritized fitting in with others, and I can’t bring myself to forgive her for that.

The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Pitt and Paltrow for comment.

In 2018, Gwyneth Paltrow shared that her then-boyfriend, Brad Pitt, had confronted Harvey Weinstein after she told him about the sexual harassment she experienced.

The actress explained that Pitt and Weinstein encountered each other at the 1995 Broadway opening of Hamlet, and Pitt immediately intervened.

Gwyneth Paltrow shared with Howard Stern that Brad Pitt once confronted Harvey Weinstein, reportedly pinning him against a wall and threatening him, saying he would kill him if he ever made Paltrow feel unsafe again.

She also noted that Pitt is ‘the best’ for doing that for her when she did not have fame or power.

Gwyneth Paltrow was among the first celebrities to publicly accuse Harvey Weinstein in a New York Times article, which helped launch the #MeToo movement.

She remembered that early in her career, after a work meeting at the Beverly Hills Hotel, Weinstein invited her to his bedroom for a massage.

She rejected his advance and drove away devastated, thinking: ‘I thought you were my Uncle Harvey.’

Weinstein warned the actress to keep their encounter a secret, telling her not to share what had happened with anyone.

Gwyneth Paltrow was getting ready to star in a new movie version of Jane Austen’s ‘Emma’, filming with Toni Collette and Ewan McGregor for Miramax.

‘He screamed at me for a long time,’ said Paltrow.

‘It was brutal.’

Though she later became a famous and award-winning actress, she still couldn’t tell her own story.

As a long-time observer of dynamics in the entertainment industry, I’ve learned that silence can be expected in certain situations. Gwyneth Paltrow recently shared her experience with Harvey Weinstein, describing a really complicated relationship. She explained it as a mix of kindness and support, but also intimidation and bullying – a truly unsettling duality, unfortunately not uncommon in power imbalances.

She decided however to no longer stay quiet.

‘We’re at a point in time when women need to send a clear message that this is over,’ said Paltrow.

‘This way of treating women ends now.’

Harvey Weinstein was once a powerful figure in Hollywood, but in 2017, media reports of sexual misconduct allegations against him turned him into a symbol of abuse.

In total, some 60 women came forward with harrowing allegations against Weinstein.

I’ve been following this case for a while now, and it’s been a real rollercoaster. He was originally found guilty of terrible crimes in both New York and California. But thankfully, an appeals court realized something wasn’t right with his first trial in New York – some of the things said in court were unfairly influencing the jury. Because of that, his original conviction was thrown out, and now he’s having to face trial again.

He’s currently facing a number of serious health challenges, including cancer, diabetes, a spinal condition, and a potential issue with his immune system.

Weinstein, while in prison, recently spoke out again, continuing to deny the allegations against him but admitting to having made a pass at Gwyneth Paltrow.

Harvey Weinstein co-founded the successful film and television studios Miramax and The Weinstein Company. He was a major figure in Hollywood, known for producing hit movies like Pulp Fiction and The Crying Game.

He has long maintained that any sexual activity was consensual.
