Harry Potter’s New Mrs. Weasley Teases Bigger Season 2 Role in HBO Series

The new series is extremely magical, according to the new Molly Weasley. The series features an all-new cat, and will feature Katherine Parkinson as everyone’s favorite matriarch.

In a recent interview with People magazine, actress Kate Parkinson discussed her work on the upcoming fantasy series. She praised the charming child actors and exciting filming locations from Season 1, and hinted that her character will have a more significant part to play in Season 2.

Harry Potter’s New Mrs. Weasley Opens Up About Joining HBO’s Young Cast

When someone mentioned the new Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone series, Parkinson said he thought the young actors were “completely enchanting.”

Dominic McLaughlin stars as the main character, joined by Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. They are the new actors taking on the iconic roles previously played by Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint.

Parkinson expressed relief that the children were so well-behaved, mentioning she expected to spend a significant amount of time with them.

She hinted that her involvement in the first season was relatively small, but she’ll have a much larger role in the second. She shared, “I didn’t do a lot in the first season, but I’m doing much more in the second.” She also enjoyed her time on set, adding, “It’s a great set to be on, and I really love my wig and costume.”

According to recent leaks, the character of Parkinson may have a larger role than Julie Walters’ Molly Weasley in the upcoming series. The leaks also suggest Harry, Ron, and Hermione will be returning to London. While the films concluded with Harry’s famous line about not going home, the books actually end after the friends say goodbye to each other.

Recent leaks revealed casting choices for the upcoming production: Parkinson will play Molly Weasley, Kitson will portray Dudley Dursley, and Rigby will play Vernon Dursley, the characters who await the children’s return from Hogwarts.

Harry Potter Season 2 Loses 1 Cast Member

The upcoming HBO series based on Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets promises a lot of activity for the Weasley family, both within the story and behind the scenes with the actors. Most of the Weasley cast has been chosen, but there are still a few roles to be filled, including the father of the family, Arthur Weasley.

Because the character isn’t introduced until the first book, the HBO series hasn’t announced who will play him yet. The actor, who was once considered for the role of Fenrir Greyback in the final Harry Potter films, said he’s open to the possibility, adding, “I’m a huge Harry Potter fan, so you never know.”

Arthur Weasley won’t be the only member of his family appearing in the new season. His daughter, Ginny, will also be recast. Gracie Cochrane played Ginny in Season 1, but is expected to have a small role this time around.

Okay, so this is a bummer for fans of the new Harry Potter series on HBO. I just heard that Gracie, who plays Ginny Weasley, won’t be returning after the first season. Her family put out a statement saying it was a tough decision, but due to some unexpected things happening, she’s moving on. They made it clear she really loved her time in the Harry Potter universe and is super thankful to everyone involved in the show, especially Lucy Bevan and the whole production crew. Sounds like she’s excited about what’s next for her, though!

Harry Potter Season 1 premieres on Christmas on HBO Max.
