HBO has shared the first official photo from the Harry Potter TV show.
What does the first Harry Potter HBO show image show?
A photo posted on social media shows Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, wearing his Gryffindor cloak with his name and number. He’s walking towards the Quidditch Pitch, and you can glimpse the end of his broomstick. In the background, you can see banners supporting Gryffindor and Hufflepuff.
The post simply says “Tomorrow,” and is signed with a lightning bolt emoji. HBO hasn’t shared any details about what’s coming, but it’s clearly a hint that more information will be released soon. It’s unclear if that will be another image or perhaps a video clip.
As a huge Harry Potter fan, I’m so excited to hear that HBO’s TV series is actually being filmed right now! Apparently, they’re shooting everything at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the U.K. – the same place where they made the original movies, which is pretty awesome.
Alongside McLaughlin, the key actors in Harry Potter are Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid.
One of the biggest questions surrounding the upcoming series is who will play Lord Voldemort. While Ralph Fiennes famously portrayed the character in the films, he isn’t likely to reprise the role. Cillian Murphy, Tilda Swinton, and Paul Bettany have been mentioned as potential candidates, but HBO hasn’t confirmed anyone and may choose to keep the casting a surprise.
Francesca Gardiner is the lead producer and creative force behind the new Harry Potter series. Director Mark Mylod, known for his work on Succession, joins her as an executive producer, alongside J.K. Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts, and David Heyman. The music will be composed by Hans Zimmer, who has won an Academy Award.
As a huge Harry Potter fan, I’m really excited about the new HBO series! They’re saying it’s going to be a very true adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s books, which is fantastic. From what I understand, each season will focus on one of the seven novels, so they’re planning to cover the whole story – all seven books – on TV. It sounds like a dream come true for anyone who loves the series as much as I do!
Harry Potter will premiere in 2027 on HBO and HBO Max.
