Now is an exciting time to be a fan! Even though the first movies came out over fifteen years ago, the magical world they created is more popular and vibrant than ever.
While Warner Bros. is creating a new Harry Potter TV series, another project is also underway. Audible announced earlier this year that it’s producing a different version of all seven Harry Potter books. Now, Variety reports that Bill Nighy, who originally starred in the Harry Potter films, will be part of this new Audible adaptation, joining other previously announced cast members.
The acclaimed British actor is known for playing Rufus Scrimgeour in the 2010 film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1. He won’t be returning to that role, but will instead lend his voice to Professor Slughorn. Slughorn was the Potions master at Hogwarts during Tom Riddle’s time as a student and later returned to teach in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
Bill Nighy isn’t the only familiar face joining the new film. Paul Barrett, who worked as the main stunt double throughout the previous eight movies, will be providing the voice for the character Stan Shunpike.
The cast of the new Harry Potter: The Full Cast Audio Editions also includes Saoirse-Monica Jackson as Professor Trelawney, Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù as Sirius Black, Anna Maxwell Martin as Rita Skeeter, Mackenzie Crook as Kreacher, Stephen Mangan as Nearly Headless Nick, Tracy-Ann Oberman as Madam Hooch, and Millie Gubby as Luna Lovegood.
For the Harry Potter audiobooks, Jude Farrant will voice young Draco Malfoy in the first three books, and Maximus Evans will take over the role for the remaining four. Jake Sigsworth will play Neville Longbottom for the first three books, with Archie Mountain voicing him for the last four.
Who Else Is Part of Harry Potter: The Full Cast Audio Editions?
When first announced in April, Audible and Pottermore Publishing described the project as a way to experience these classic stories like never before. They promised immersive audio entertainment with high-quality sound, including Dolby Atmos, original music, a full cast of voice actors – over 100 in total – and realistic sound effects.
The initial casting news revealed Arabella Stanton will voice Hermione Granger for the first three audiobooks and also portray her in the new show. Frankie Treadaway will voice Harry Potter, and Max Lester will voice Ron Weasley.
Starting with the fourth book, Goblet of Fire, Jaxon Knopf, Rhys Mulligan, and Nina Barker-Francis will be the new narrators for the Harry Potter audiobooks. Hugh Laurie will voice Albus Dumbledore, Riz Ahmed will play Professor Snape, Michelle Gomez will be Professor McGonagall, and Cush Jumbo will narrate the entire series.
New cast members were announced on September 1st and 10th. Joining the project are Kit Harington (from Game of Thrones) as the voice of Professor Lockhart, Iwan Rheon as Professor Lupin, Gemma Whelan as Professor Sprout, and Ruth Wilson (The Affair) as Bellatrix Lestrange. Ambika Mod (One Day) will voice Nymphadora Tonks, Leo Woodall (One Day) will play Bill Weasley, Simon Pegg (Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning) will voice Arthur Weasley, and Matt Berry (What We Do In The Shadows) will play Sir Cadogan. Also joining the cast is as Professor Umbridge.
The first movie adaptation of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone will be released on November 4, 2025, and the remaining books in the series will be adapted into films and released monthly after that.
