As a die-hard fan of this power couple, I am simply in awe of their resilience and grace in the face of adversity. Jill Goodacre, a former Victoria’s Secret model, has not only graced us with her stunning beauty but also with her courage and strength. Her journey through cancer diagnosis and treatment is nothing short of inspiring.

Harry Connick Jr’s wife Jill Goodacre was a top Victoria’s Secret model in the 1980s.

She exuded a captivating charm while modeling lace lingerie for the brand, and she was featured gracefully on the cover of Cosmopolitan magazine.

In 1994, her fame was such that she made a guest appearance on the popular sitcom Friends, alongside Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox. That particular episode was known as “The One with the Blackout.

A woman from Colorado, aged 60, fought breast cancer for five years and eventually regained her health. This former model shared this story in People magazine in 2017, explaining that a lump was discovered during an ultrasound which led to two consecutive surgeries. Later, she experienced weight gain due to the medication Tamoxifen.

At the Met Gala in NYC in 2018 she looked incredible again as she wore a form-fitting black dress.

This week, Harry shared a picture on Instagram featuring his beloved partner, and they appeared blissfully content during a football match.

At the Met Gala, she flaunted a sleek midriff and defined biceps while posing for pictures on the golden red carpet.

The beauty modeled a black gown that seemed to have a spiderweb design with a mermaid finish.

She had her hair partially tied up, sporting elegant makeup, sparkling diamond earrings, and carrying a sleek black handbag.

Last year, his husband (who hosts a talk show) admitted to People that he found the cancer diagnosis terrifying, saying, “I feared losing her, yes, absolutely. But I didn’t want her to see that fear in me.

For the mother of three, dealing with the weight associated with the Tamoxifen medication she’s required to take has proven one of her greatest challenges.

Jill expressed that she’s typically been quite active and in good shape, but finding herself larger, less mobile, and unable to change this has been challenging. It’s significantly impacted her self-assurance.

In October 2012 Goodacre had a routine annual mammogram. The results were fine.  But then she was told to get a sonogram as well because she had ‘dense breasts.’

During the sonogram ‘something was detected’ and Jill was asked to undergo a biopsy.

The results were hard to hear: the bikini model had Stage 1 invasive ductal carcinoma.

The singer admitted, ‘I was indeed terrified of losing her. However, I didn’t want her to notice it. Yes, I was. Losing my mother taught me that the unthinkable can occur. She is my closest friend, and I honestly don’t know how I would manage without her.’

Harry lost his mother to ovarian cancer when he was only 13-years-old.

Jill found it challenging to inform their children, but they are a family of three – Georgia, Sara Kate, and Charlotte. “It tore my heart apart,” expressed Jill.

Straightaway, she required a lumpectomy procedure. Following this, radiation treatment was planned for her, but fortunately, she was exempt from undergoing chemotherapy.

She shared that the biopsy results weren’t clear around the edges, and further testing revealed an extensive presence of ‘ductal carcinoma in situ’, a less aggressive type of the condition.

She had to go in for a second surgery the very next day. 

‘And then radiation absolutely wiped me out,’ added Jill.

But the worst part has been taking Tamoxifen or five years.

Harry said it’s been hard for her to look fuller. 

Her husband remarked that her struggle with cancer and its treatment had a significant effect on her, and this was indeed a genuine challenge, yet she remains the most stunning woman to him.

I chose to hold off on sharing my exciting news with the world initially, not wishing to inadvertently disrupt its positive trajectory by speaking too soon.

She mentioned that we preferred to share the news only when we were confidently past the challenges, which would be around the five-year point. The doctors have expressed optimism about our situation after this five-year mark, so we’re beginning to feel more hopeful.

As a diligent follower, I can’t help but feel a persistent sense of unease, constantly undergoing checks, and harboring the hope that I won’t face its recurrence.

Jill talked on her husband’s talk show Harry about her cancer diagnosis.

On the program, we were granted a unique glimpse into, Harry expresses to his spouse: “What I yearned for most was growing old together and having as many years as possible by your side.

Jill responds with: ‘You always used to say that: “I just want to grow old with you.”‘

‘It’s true. I wanted to know what you would look like older. … I made the right decision,’ he added. 

Texas native Jill married Harry in 1994 when they were both at the top of their careers. 

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I can tell you that I once graced the runways of Victoria’s Secret and adorned the covers of esteemed magazines like Cosmopolitan. Additionally, I had the privilege of making a guest appearance on the beloved sitcom, Friends, portraying myself.

Harry boasts a record sale of more than 30 million units and has starred alongside Sandra Bullock in films like Hope Floats. Additionally, he served as a judge on American Idol with Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban. Currently, he hosts his own talk show known as “Harry”.
