Harris Dickinson reveals ‘deeply inappropriate’ fan request on the plane as he admits he hates being sexualised after starring in erotic film Babygirl

Harris Dickinson says he’s been disturbed by the sexual attention he’s received from fans since appearing in the provocative drama, *Babygirl*.

The 29-year-old actor, currently getting ready to portray John Lennon in Sam Mendes’ upcoming Beatles biopic, said he had a difficult time dealing with the consequences of appearing in a sexually explicit film.

In the hit movie, he starred opposite Nicole Kidman in a provocative tale of obsession and desire.

Harris admitted on the Happy Sad Confused podcast on Thursday that he didn’t enjoy a significant portion of it.

I’m really proud of this project. I have a lot of affection for Halina, and collaborating with Nicole was a truly exciting experience.

It was odd how fans reacted to some of it. You can’t control how people behave, and it’s best not to dwell on it, because people can be unpredictable.

The award-nominated actor plays an intern who begins a risky relationship with Nicole’s character, who is older and married.

The film received praise for its intense and sensual atmosphere, but Harris has said the resulting personal attention was difficult for him.

He admitted it feels strangely acceptable to subject male actors to this, and that’s the core issue. He believes it’s become common and tolerated to do this to younger men in the industry.

I often encounter women making very inappropriate comments to me. For example, during interviews for my album ‘Babygirl,’ and especially during the question-and-answer sessions afterward, some of the things that happened were completely unacceptable.

‘And you’re expected to just laugh it off. I think that’s why I struggled with that experience.’

He explained this behavior started after the film’s release last year, and he recently had an especially awkward experience with it while traveling to the US.

‘On the plane, someone was like, can you dance for me?’ he said. 

She then said something about what she was doing while watching the movie, but stopped herself before finishing the story. I found that really inappropriate. I don’t need to hear about her personal experiences related to the film, and it was just strange.

Harris explained that while some might point out the film contained erotic elements, he believed the final product – and the artistic approach Halina described – was truly special and different.

‘It wasn’t a reductive thing in my mind. 

You know, as someone who spends a lot of time in the public eye, it’s tough. I’ve learned you really can’t control how others see you or the stories they tell about you. Honestly, I find myself constantly pushing back against those narratives, trying to define myself on my own terms. It’s a constant process of reclaiming your own story.

Earlier this year, actor Harris, who has been in a relationship with musician Rose Gray, 28, for a long time, shared in an interview with The Independent that he feels awkward being seen as a romantic lead and still struggles with the idea of people being attracted to him.

He explained that childhood insecurities, stemming from being overweight as a boy, continue to make it difficult for him to feel comfortable with how people see him today.

‘I didn’t shed that until I was in my late teens,’ he explained. 

I always keep that feeling with me, and I don’t think it ever really goes away. It’s a little odd, honestly, because I’m not used to people being attracted to me – to *being desired*.

‘I’m happy to lean into it for the right film, but it’s not something I’m comfortable with.’
