Be warned, this contains spoilers for the third episode of Season 2 of Happy’s Place, titled “Straw Man.” You can watch it now with a subscription to Peacock.
The second season of Happy’s Place started airing earlier this month and is quickly picking up where the first season left off. There have already been a few unexpected twists, and Melissa Peterman has jokingly suggested some exciting casting choices. She’d love to see Channing Tatum or Jon Hamm join the show as part of Gabby’s story, and many fans would likely agree!
On the November 21st episode of Happy’s Place, titled “Straw Man,” Gabby made her decision about a sperm donor. She began looking for one last season when she decided she wanted to have a child, and Reba actor Steve Howey was even considered. Although she’s chosen someone, the show’s creator, Peterman, told Us Weekly she has a preferred actor for the role. The actress might be hoping for this casting, even if it doesn’t align with what Gabby would actually want.
Gabby [would want] Channing Tatum. She’s going to dream big. Dream big or go home.
Many fans are hoping Channing Tatum will play Gabby’s sperm donor, even if it seems like a long shot. While Gabby has already chosen someone, it’s possible that person doesn’t resemble Tatum, or might even change their mind. However, Tatum isn’t the only actor Peterman is considering – she and co-star Pablo Castelblanco also mentioned Jon Hamm. It would be fun to see an entire episode dedicated to Gabby exploring all her potential donor options, as Peterman suggested.
I suspect Gabby was searching the dark web for a donor. It seems she enjoyed the process.
No matter how far-fetched it seems, I love the idea of Channing Tatum or Jon Hamm playing Gabby’s sperm donor! Both actors are fantastic at both comedy and drama, which would be perfect for the role. Honestly, I’d enjoy seeing either of them on the show in any capacity – whether as the father of Gabby’s child or not. It’s probably unlikely, but it’s fun to imagine!

You can stream shows like Happy’s Place on Peacock, starting at $7.99 per month or $79.99 per year. For an ad-free experience and the ability to download shows for offline viewing, consider upgrading to Peacock Premium or Peacock Premium Plus. Check out the deal here!
Now that the story about Gabby’s sperm donor is developing and she’s made her choice, things are really starting to heat up. She clearly thought carefully before deciding, and she seems very happy with who she’s chosen. I’m excited to see what happens next, and I really hope they cast an actor with great comedic skills if Luigi shows up.
Season 2 of Happy’s Place has begun, so there are plenty more episodes coming! New ones air Fridays at 8 p.m. Eastern on NBC, immediately followed by the new comedy Stumble. You can also watch all episodes of the Reba McEntire show on Peacock.
