Happy Valley’s James Norton unveils hair transformation
As a fan who has been following James Norton’s career since his days on Happy Valley, I must say that this man is not just a chameleon when it comes to acting, but also with his looks! His transformation for the role of Robert Edwards in Joy is nothing short of stunning. The darker, gelled-down bowl cut perfectly suits the seriousness of the drama and the era.
Actor James Norton, famous for his role in Happy Valley, displayed a striking new appearance at the premiere of his newest movie Joy on October 14.
Instead of sporting his natural light-brown, curly hair, the actor opted for a darker hue and a sleek, “bowl-style” haircut, where his newly trimmed hair is carefully smoothed back and given a polished finish with gel.
As an ardent admirer, I’m thrilled to share that Norton graces our screens in Netflix’s “Joy,” sharing the limelight with Bill Nighy and Thomasin McKenzie. This gripping drama chronicles the life story of Louise Brown, the pioneering woman who was the first to be born through In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).
McKenzie portrays the character of Jean Purdy, an embryologist, collaborating with scientists like Robert Edwards (portrayed by Norton) and surgeons such as Patrick Steptoe (played by Nighy), in their efforts to bring In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) into existence.
Currently, Norton has been quite occupied, with one of his latest projects being the wrap-up of filming for the BBC period drama “King and Conqueror” in Ireland.
In the upcoming production, Norton is set to portray Harold, Earl of Wessex, with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau from “Game of Thrones” taking on the role of William, Duke of Normandy, and Eddie Marsan, known for his work in “Back to Black”, playing King Edward.
The series is penned by Michael Robert Johnson, under the pen name Sherlock Holmes, and it revolves around William, Duke of Normandy and King Edward, leading up to the Battle of Hastings in 1066.
The period drama titled “King and Conqueror” recounts an epic clash that shaped the fate of a nation and a continent over a millennium. This conflict traces its origins back several decades, unfolding through the interwoven tales of two powerful family dynasties vying for control across two nations and vast bodies of water.
In addition, Norton is now set to appear in the new Netflix series by Peaky Blinders creator, Steven Knight, titled House of Guinness.
The eight-part show explores the consequences that followed the demise of Benjamin Guinness, a key figure in expanding the renowned brewery, and how his death affected his four offspring.
Additionally, Jack Gleeson from “Game of Thrones”, Michael McElhatton, Anthony Boyle known for “Masters of the Air”, and Louis Partridge who starred in “Enola Holmes” have also been confirmed for this drama.
Joy lands on Netflix November 22.
