Happy Death Day star Jessica Rothe to star in another sci-fi horror film

As a die-hard fan of Jessica Rothe and all things horror, I can’t help but feel my heart race with anticipation as I hear about her latest role in “Affection.” It seems like a thrilling blend of love, memory, and terror – a perfect storm for Rothe to truly shine.

Actress Jessica Rothe, famously known for her roles in scream-filled movies, has signed on to appear in the upcoming sci-fi horror flick, “Affection.” The storyline of this film bears a faint resemblance to her standout performance in the time loop slasher series, “Happy Death Day.”

According to Deadline, the actress is set to portray Ellie, a character who finds herself stuck in a recurring nightmare scenario where her memories often fade away, effectively deleting her life with her spouse and child. What makes this situation even more distressing is that Ellie’s authentic memories are being overwritten by vibrant recollections of a life she never experienced before.

This story seems to blend elements of lighter romantic comedies such as “50 First Dates” and “Happy Death Day,” but with its own unique twist. Unlike time loop movies like the ones where each day repeats, it’s more about the narrative path this story chooses, which could lead to a darker tone.

In the upcoming production, Rothe will share the screen with Joseph Cross, who is renowned for his roles in ‘Lincoln’ and ‘Licorice Pizza’. Cross will portray Rothe’s on-screen spouse, while Julianna Layne from ‘Prodigal Son’ will take on the role of their fictional daughter.

Watching Rothe land fresh projects, particularly those within the horror/thriller realm, is consistently thrilling. She’s an exceptional actress, and it’s when she’s tackling projects in this genre that her talent truly sparkles, even though I’m aware of her versatility in other film genres.

More recently, she appeared alongside Bill Skarsgard in the intensely-violent action film “Boy Kills World,” however, she is most recognized for her roles in “Happy Death Day” and its follow-up “Happy Death Day 2U,” both helmed by Christopher Landon. Here’s hoping a third installment might be on the horizon.

BT Meza’s first directorial endeavor, titled Affection, has him as both the director and screenwriter. At this moment, there’s no news about whether it will be streamed online or released in movie theaters.
